Unhappy Car wax on plastics

I ve managed to get Tesco Car Wax onto my bumpers and handles and now they have white marks on them, looks like white paint and I cant get it off. Any ideas on how I can remove the marks?

Re: Car wax on plastics

I use Autoglym Bumper Care which does a great job. Don't like some of the back to black dye products as many seem to last only a few days and run black dye everywhere!

Re: Car wax on plastics

Switch to a half-decent car wax to prevent this happening again. Turtle ICE is inexpensive and won't leave that residue. Meguiar's is good also. Auto glym isn't though, that leaves loads of dusty crap.

Meguiars Trim Detailer will remove the nasty white marks and make the black trim as good as new. I love this stuff...

Re: Car wax on plastics

a wax that leaves white marks?
it must be polish.

i dont use anything that leaves a residue, try some carnauba wax, you can use it on the paint and plastic (on everything really) and there's no residue at all.

Re: Car wax on plastics

no residue with carnauba, but it does carry the colour/clearcoat remenants with it onto the plastics.

pro's choose to mask half the car off, I just use auto glym vinyl/rubber care, its kind of vinegery I would imagine and cuts it off.

as for back to black stuff I can't recommend carplan back to black WAX enough, tis cheap £3, lasts around 6month, and a bottle will then maybe last 3years for a car treated every 6month. just don't get it on any oversprayed/rough painted bits of the car as its fair tough to remove from that, but if you've waxed first, then detailed/done the trim afterwards it works OK
