| Black GP Sporting | Re: which meguiars wash solution? totally agree, there's not really much difference between the better known makes. i sometimes use auto glym bodywork shampoo and conditioner but most of all i use meguiars gold class shampoo and conditioner. i have also used some mer shampoo, which seems really good, i always seem to get great results with this, but it depends on what you have at home, if you have the megs stuff, then don't go and buy some other stuff as it won't really be better. its mainly about the polishing and waxing, but paint work preperation is also the key to a great flawless finish! try out some clay mate, easy to use, and the results are truly amazing!!!!!

| Re: which meguiars wash solution? I use the megs soft wash gel, pink stuff, smeels yummy too! It is supposed to be the best for an already waxed/polished car as it doesn't eat away the top layer of wax/polish That is what I was told by the guy from meguiars at a car show last year, and seems to work for me!

| Re: which meguiars wash solution? A small suggestion - most manufacturers will have created their products to work well together. If you are using megs wax then use their wash products. If you use autoglym wax then use autoglym shampoo - the initial finish is much the same but over a prolonged period you'll find that the wax lasts longer as the wash doesn't take so much of it away each time. If you wash your car daily then it really doesn't matter what product you use - the results will be comparable. If you only do it weekly or bi-weekly then you can start to see the difference between brands. My tip is stay away from any product with silicone in it - it may make for an easy wax/polish but it causes more grief long term. It is a really nasty substance to remove if you ever have to (resprays for example) and it builds up on glass - not so bad for the sideglass but it stops wiper blades working properly. Without stretching to increasingly expensive carnuba based wax the best one out there is the old simoniz solid wax. It comes in an olde-style puck shaped tin and it is painfully hard to apply properly but the end result is beyond all but the most expensive alternatives. First step though is always to rinse the car off and then claybar it. You can't just see the difference you can feel it. The paintwork will be smooth like it should be. Just make sure you wax properly afterwards.

| Burninator of threads! | Re: which meguiars wash solution? halfords value car was, 2litre for a piffling £1.48 (reduced for some reason), does a grand job AFAIK if its been waxed and I'm preserving it, use cooler water and dilute it down a bit more
