meguiars car polish

Spent 3 hours this last weekend cleaning and polishin my GP
i used three meguiars products

1 Paint cleaner
2 Polish
3 Tech Wax

I tell you somthing although in theory ive had to polish the car 3 times
(once with each product) the results are excellent

To touch the paintwork now is like running your hand on glass and its well shinny

To be honest i was thinking is it any different to products ive used before but when i drop to the bank and parked on the carpark my car really stood out in the sunlight and i new then all the hours of hardwork were VERY worthwhile

Thanks to that man for the carwashing tips including the 2 bucket jobby.
Nice one mate.

Re: meguiars car polish

sounds nice matey... where's the pics though?

i would buy some clay mate... carry this out before the paint cleaner, and i would also replace the tech wax with some carnuba wax.

meguairs do a 3 step kit, which consists of the first two products you have used, but have the carnuba rather than the tech wax.

try out some of natty's products and ive heard great reports from people who use collonite products too.

check out the detailing world website for more tips.

Re: meguiars car polish

With the greatest of respect what you say is plain WRONG.

Never use Carnuba wax on metallic paint......it covers up and dulls the effect of the reflective metal flakes.....it also produces a horrible yellow color to the paintwork.....it also doesn't last very long.

The ONLY Wax to use on a Fiat is Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Acrylic and Acrylic Jett Trigger.....you can only get it at polishedbliss.co.uk.
You will NEVER have seen results like it.....really makes the metallic flakes pop, no horrible colour change, makes the paintwork look 'glassey' and it lasts for ages......only costs £15.....everyone should try it.

Re: meguiars car polish

with all due respect to YOU it depends on what FINISH YOU want...

whether or not you want to POP the flake or MUTE it is down to personal preferance.

and why should you NEVER use carnuba? what a load of old tosh!

Re: meguiars car polish

Have finsihed, just some quick pics of before and after, has done really well taking the swirls out. There are still some but not as many or intense. The photos aren't really a fair comparison either as first ones taken at 3 in proper sun, the after ones done at 7pm so sun on it's way down.

Before

After

Re: meguiars car polish

Nice work, looks very shiney and a lovely car too.

As for the arguments about polishes/waxes, I'm sure they if you did every panel on a car with a different wax most people would be hard pushed to notice any difference....

I'd suggest reading this

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...s_protect.html

There's nothing wrong with using a carnauba on metallic. The only reason you'll get yellowing by using carnaube is by using about 15 layers, ie a stupid amount. With regards to carnauba not lasing long, this is true, especially in the case of meguiar's step 3 which lasts no longer than about 8 weeks in my experience. However I'm currently using Collinite No.476S, a carnauba that lasts a year! Nice bit of beading when it rains too

Re: meguiars car polish

If you think it looks good after the tech wax, try a proper one, tryand get hold of the professional range, number 16, mirror glaze. Now that gives you a shine and a half! I clayed, did stage 1 of the 3 stage, number 7 in the professional range and then over the top with mirror glaze and I was so impressed with it, all it needs now is a wash again as it's a bit dusty due to living on a main road!

I think I need to clay my car, its well lumpy all over, and parking under a lime tree one day certainly hasn't helped it any more

Re: meguiars car polish

yes mate, it sounds like you will. a tip for you (that was given to me from DW) is to go over the car with some bug and tar remover, but this will strip any wax that was on the car previously so you will have to re apply it after you have applied the B&T remover and clayed the car.

i have read great reviews about the megs professional range, but i am going to try some other products by clearkote, poorboys etc etc

also hoping to be purchasing a pc later on in the year, so that should wave goodbye to the swirls and scratches!!!
