Odour Remover

Hiya guys,

My GF got a new car (Non Fiat sorry!!!) which the previous owners looked after, with one execption.... they used it to take the dog everywhere (Rotty).

For those who have dogs, the wet dog smell is horrible, but this, and the normall dog smell have stayed on the back seats.

Anyone any ideas how to get rid of the smell??

So far, we have vacuumed it twice, soaked the seats in Fabreeze, and have left the windows open as much as possible to get it aired.

Cheers,

Carl.

Re: Odour Remover

have you looked to see if you can remove the rear seat fabric to wash it?
or you could hire/borrow one of those carpet washing machines to give it a good clean

Re: Odour Remover

When i got my car... it stunk of smoke and those horrible air freshner things (we found about 20!). Anyway, we know a prefessional carpet cleaner who did the hole interior (carpets, seats, headlining), and it smelt like new afterwards. Mates rates were £15, so it shouldnt be too expensive.

Re: Odour Remover

Easier to get a car wash cafe to steam clean the interior?

Re: Odour Remover

Dog can be an absolute pain to get rid of.
Best tips I can offer are.

1, Shampoo carpets ands seat with a wet and dry Vac. Baring in mind to allow to air and dry properly, a damp smell can almost be as bad as a dog smell.
2, Remove boot carpet and wash boot floor and spare wheel well. ( dog fluids often collect and dry into a stinking crud here. )

If this isn't enough then.

3, bacterial and anti odour fogging. machines and materials for this are exspensive but if you check yellow pages or the interweb you find people who will come round and do it.

Although very rare we have had cars that have had all these steps done several times and still smell. Although I can count these one one hand.
