can anyone help? i have a 2009 165T in white, the colour name is bianco pastello. code is VR 296/A. on a visit to halfords i found no code match or name match in white. i have tried the colours that they have and all seem too bright. i accept there is a bit of ageing but i need to find the right code first. has anyone had a simaller problem. i only want to cover a few small scratches..

Mines 296/a 249 seems common in sprays but not seen ours off the shelf anywhere, I get fishersmotor factor in Lincoln to mix any I need, they will do it in a custom aerosol too, I get direct gloss and it works brilliantly, just observe safety precautions when spraying, you only get one set of lungs and isocyanides are exactly what they sound like. Any auto paint factor will mix it I'm sure.

Can you find that code on ebay? I just bought the red paint kit with my colour code, 1 for 1

thanks for the reply. i called my local auto paint shop and was told the code matched alfa romeo colour but was a light silver? i haven't tried any other yet but will do.

thanks for the reply but ebay only comes back with alfa romeo colours that dont match either.

thanks but i tried the 249 which seems to be the highest code in white off the shelf and was too bright

Sorry there should be a comma between the two codes then there's no confusion they are as you have discovered as close as black and white.

there seems to be 3 available off the shelf white sprays that are supposed to be common to fiat. they are 224, 233 and 249 which are so far apart that as you said just as well be black!
i have located a auto paint specialist so will try them sometime this week. thanks again to all the comments and i will update this with the outcome later.

Ordered touch up white in October from main dealers-still waiting for it!

thanks for the info Peter. i checked it out and looks top notch gear. if no luck with my local then definitely give them a call. have you used their product.

I have just bought a kit and am going to try it tomorrow. The special touch up brushes / stick thingys look as if they will be the ticket. They are offering a free kit for good before and after photos so I am going to have a good try to see how good a job I can do. I will post the results on here too.

before and after pics would be great to see plus good luck with aiming for a freebie, always a bonus.

I used my paint kit yesterday. No problems at all and a perfect colour match. The repair was done as they suggest and it is certainly the best I have ever managed, you have to look quite closely to see where it was, so I would def recommend Chipex. Delivery and service were A1 too.

Hi Peter, glad to hear your happy with your result. Had a good look at my gash and seems a lot more damage than first thought so going to have to wait for a whole warm weekend free to repair mine.Had to do a quick bodge to hide and seal but as long as i stick to 80 mph no one will notice. Did you use heaters to dry the paint.

No need to use heaters with the Chipex stuff it does dry very quickly even in cold temperatures. I am pleased enough to buy another kit for the Bravo. I recently bought a DA polisher which I used on my Mothers car. I sprayed a scratch that ran right down the whole side. Basiccally I just walked down the car and back with the colour coat and then with clear. It looked so bad I was having kittens. I then used a 2500 disc which also made it look pretty grim, but with some finishing compound and about an hours work it has polished up so well you actually cannot see where I have been. I think this tool is one of the best things I have ever bought and would recommend it for spray repairs.
