Evening all. First off, great forum! I can see myself spending some time here! Secondly, I'm hoping you good people can help me out.
Driving home this evening, I heard an almighty BANG like I'd hit a stone or something. I pulled over and had a quick look around and couldn't see anything, so drove home carefully and everything seemed fine. Steering fine, no noises, engine seemed fine. On closer inspection (I parked up the kerb to get under) I found a cable hanging down from somewhere between the rear shock and the exhaust. I don't know if this is the noise, perhaps it was pulled out by something (though it seems unlikely it would make that much noise, thus was a hell of a smack!) but it's concerning all the same.

Any ideas? Cheers all, Pete

I think it might be the leveling sensor for the OEM xenon headlights.
If your car doesn't have the xenon headlights, that doesn't mean it wasn't wired for it.

At the back you also have the carbon canister, but that is on the right hand side... and this seems to be on the left as you described it's close to the exhaust.

If you don't have the xenon headlights, and there are no errors detected.. i would just use some electrical tape on the connector, then zipp-tie it out of the way of anything.

Excellent, I was hoping I'd have a reply like that. I've zip tied it up just below the spring, so all should be fine. My MOT is coming up, so I'll maybe ask them to have a quick look too :) the noise remains a mystery, but after 80 miles I've had no issues, so it must have been a rock or something
