Hey all,

got myself an aftermarket front exhaust (including the cat; EDIT: for my Bravo 1.4 16V) done at a certain quick fitting chain last month, and the pipe is smacking off the suspension reinforcement bar (part number 8 on the eLearn diagram) when revs are 3000+ (slightly lower if giving the throttle a hard press) because the bend is slightly in the wrong place.

Their solution so far has been to heat the pipe and deform it slightly so it's thinner over the bar, but it's only slightly lessened the problem.

Anyone seen this before, and as a wee quiz for everyone, if flattening the exhaust pipe further is A BAD THING, any thoughts what could I put on the bar to dampen the exhaust hitting/reaching the bar?

btw, ~£450 supply and fit from KF, ~£1000-1300 supply and fit OEM part quotes from dealerships!

I Agree with gadge.
But i wanted to add that even the stock exhaust is pretty close to the reinforcement; with aging motor mounts even the stock exhaust hits it.

But they have basically agreed to a contract with you. you have uphold your end by paying them; they need to give you the product/service.

I would not accept them flattening the pipe at all.

Ta for the advice, folks. A more pressing prob has turned up with the brakes that were done at the same time as the exhaust are now making some scary noises. I'll bring it up with them tomorrow morning while administering a strong bollocking.

neuro hey I am very new to this forum and also want an aftermarket exhaust for my active 1.4 59 plate Bravo. Would you mind telling me which one you bought and where from? It's a minefield trying to find information on tuning my Bravo.

The exhaust was sourced and fitted by Kwik Fit, so I have no idea unfortunately. I traded my Bravo in last week, so can't check now unfortunately. In saying that, it was crap, so I wouldn't have recommended it at any rate.
