Hi everyone.

As I was doing some work on the car I saw my inner drive shaft boot was very dry and grease is outside the boot. So I ordered a knew boot kit for both shafts and will attempt to change these next weekend.
I dont want to remove the cup from the gearbox for two reasons first I dont know how to do it and two I changed gear box oil last week and dont want to do it again. My question is if anyone happens to know, does the shaft with the tripod just slide out of the cup or is it a clip or something stopping it from fallaing out?

To take the driveshaft apart at the tripode:
-loosen drive shaft nut with the wheels on the ground.
(you can do it without removing the nut off the driveshaft, but you will need to remove other parts connecting the wheel hub to the lower controll arm and/or the shock.)
-jack car up
-remove clamps that secure the boot on the tripode cup
-pull back boot
-pull half the driveshaft away
-the tripode has a circlip, remove that, then remove the tripode -might need to use a hammer be careful what you hit.

What king of grease are you going to use? i've used sothing with molybdenum disulphide, as my boot didn't came with grease. it's still great after 30 k km.

Thank you for a great answer.
OK so perhaps I don't need to remove the whole shaft then, couple of weeks ago I changed the whole suspension and the control arms to so that would be easy to take apart again. I will think about it or if I remove the whole thing. The boot kit comes with grease if it looks like outer cv joint grease I will go get a tube MoS2 grease, the kind I think you referring to.

Thank you for the tip on that post im now leaning towards taking the whole shafts out so that I can inspect the cups. I have some vibrations from 70km/h to 90 maybe this can have something to do whit it.

Ok yes that was what I meant, take out the outer drive shafts and inspect the cups when they are on the car. I will have fun and greasy job this weekend?

Auric86 where did you get hold of your inner boot?
When I put everything back together and is about to clamp it I realise the one I got is a terrible fit, if these doesn't leak grease out I don't know what will.

not sure who made it, i got a pretty expensive one... about 20E. the metal clamps were not great. they never are. over them i also put zipp-ties. they are still there.
