Firstly, Hi to the forum.

I have a 2007 1.9 Diesel Bravo. When the foot brake is applied, the top line LED brake light works, but not the two main rear brake lights.

I have checked the brake lamps and they are not faulty.

I've had a search on the Internet and found information suggesting it might be a faulty brake switch.

I can see the brake switch, but it looks as if it could be difficult to remove and replace.

Does anyone know the technique for removal and replacement of the brake switch.

Thanks.

Before jumping to the brake light switch, have you checked the fuse?

Matthen,

Thanks for the response. I looked at the handbook Pages 178 -187, but there is no specific mention of brake light fuses. I could only find one fuses box (the one under the bonnet) and all the fuses tested OK.

Do you know the location of the brake light fuses; and is the high level LED on a different fuse to the main brake lights.

If the third stop light is working then the brake switch is ok.
The top brake light is driven directly by the brake switch.
The brake lights from rear clusters are driven directly from body ( main ) computer and there is no fuse. Check the connections of the plugs and jacks on cabin fuses assembly.

Thanks for that information aschiuta. I'll see what plugs I can find and check them out.

This is the schematics:
I030 = brake switch
F040 = brake top light
F030, F031 = cluster brake lights
M001 = body computer
B002 = interior fuse assy.

I located the Body Control Module (BCM) behind the glove box, but access to the various plugs is hampered by the glove box assembly.

I applied the brake, whilst giving the plugs (those I could access) a good push and pull, but the brake cluster lights remained off.

It looks as if the glove box assembly will need to be removed to gain access to the BCM, unless I can locate and undo the BCM fixings.

I will also try to obtain a wiring diagram to get the appropriate wire colours and pin numbers.

Have you checked the bulbs? Tried removing the bulbs and see if bulb failure illuminates?
