Hi All,

So my new (to me) bravo appears to have a coolant leak. The coolant is leaking from the thermostat? on to the top of the gearbox. The garage have had the car and replaced the jubilee clips and the washers (which washers I don't know), and it's still leaking. Are there any common faults that I should bring to there attention when it goes back to them?

I've read something about a leaking turbo hoses on the forum - is that hose in this area?

Cheers,

Nick

Hi, what engine..?

the later 500s have a plastic hose connector that fails..maybe the bravo has similar

although if they've got access to change these Youd hope they'd have noticed.. could be a prous casting..or just a poor seal / gasket,

maybe look on Shop4parts for the replacement part.

Oops. Its a 2008 1.4 T-Jet 150.

I'm really enjoying driving it, but this coolant drip is starting to test my patience. All the original hose clips in that area have been replaced with Jubilee clips - are they likely to contribute to the leak?

Check the upper part of the radiator. The electrofan is touching it in the middle by default design. It might be cracked in the contact spot despite the rubber buffer. This is a common issue.

Surely if the radiator was leaking the puddle of coolant wouldn't be on top of the gearbox? Im pretty sure its the banjo that connects the 'stat to the oil cooler that is leaking.

Unfortunately shop for parts don't seem to stock that pipe.

Had the same problem on our 150tjet and my old alfa 155TB. On our bravo I replaced the thermostat and put new jubilee clips on. When changing the thermostat I could see it was just the pipe not seating correctly and had come loose. On our mito I just replaced jubilee clips which was fine.

Maybe try re seating the pipe on thermostat again and re tightening the clips tighter this time. I'd say it's common as I had it on both my cars with same engine.

Do you mean the top hose or the oil cooler link pipe? I could live with shelling out for a new thermostat.

I've not had a proper look at the top hose, but it could potentially be that. It's a bit awkward to get a look at the bottom of, i'll have another look later.

The pipe that goes into the thermostat, to get to it you need to remove the battery and battery tray really. Download a copy of elearn its quite a simple job, I got my new thermostat from shop4parts.

Although you probably don't need a new thermostat, I loosen off the jubilee clip and make sure the pipe is seating/pushed over the raise lip of the thermostat properly and get your jubilee clip in the right place and tighten it up and see how you go.
