Hello, hope you all had a great Christmas.

Does anyone have any experience of changing the rear fog light on their Bravo?

Firstly, does anyone know where I can buy one from? Is there anywhere online? I try not to use Halfords if possible, after bad customer service experiences previously.

Secondly, will it be possible to change it myself, baring in mind I have very little vehicle knowledge?

Thank you very much!

Disaster with this so far lads.

Halfords won't/can't do it.

Dealership quoted me £180 hahahahaha. Quoted me £55 for the bulb alone - they cost £2.99 at Halfords.

I can't seem to do it myself though, just can't reach it.

What can I do?

Whats the issue, has the bulb just blown? Have you tried what I've mentioned above

Finally grew some balls and stuck my head under the rear of my car. Bit of an awkward reach but 90 seconds later I have the bulb out.

Off to buy a replacement bulb tomorrow for presumably £3.99 and hoping my arm will bend to get the bulb back in.

Hopefully happy days, thanks for your advice.

20 minutes of work and £3.99 and the dealership wanted to charge me £180...

Never go to a dealership unless it's under warentee and they're obliged do it imo.

In spending a little time posting on here and actually having the courage to do it, you've saved yourself £176. And you know how to change a fog light bulb on a bravo now.

You'd be surprised at how easy things are to do on a car if you actually look into it a little. There's loads of guides and YouTube tutorials for changing oils and servicing and everything else, all applicable to whatever car you have, they just might be in slightly different places on your car, but the method of doing it still applies.

The bravo elearn in the " downloads" section is worth the 10 minutes it takes to download and setup IMHO.

Yep, 100% you are correct.

I have little to no car knowledge but i've just bought my first house so determined to do as much myself as possible now, learn new things and save money along the way - doing basic car services is one of them.

£180?? ..... To change a fog bulb  we're they gonna fit a gold plated one or something?

No idea mate, but that's genuinely what they quoted me.

£40 for the bulb (IIRC), and the rest for labour and having to take the bumper off etc.

Nuts.

I'm not a fan of main dealers, but in their defence I'm pretty sure if you asked them for a price to 'change the rear foglight' as in your original post then they have quoted you a price to replace the actual fog light which does require the bumper to be removed instead of just replacing the bulb.

I think you may well have hit the nail on the head with this one.

I can see how you'd think that - but he did ask the question "Is it just the bulb that needs replacing?", to which I said "Yes". So they knew the extent of the job.
