My brother has a Renault with drain hole problems near his engine bay, causing electrical problems. Seems to be caused by a combination of poor engineering and quality.

So, I thought I'd have a look at my Bravo to see if it was any better. It does have a similiar construction. But I was shocked to find an electric cable connector underneath the drain hole cover, above the engine bay. Not only that, but the connector wasn't even isolated.

Have you guys noticed this on your Bravo? and wouldnt it be a good idea to at least isolate it? to make sure it doesnt get drained by water (thus causing electrical problems).
I mean... seems like a really poor choice of a place to put a cable...

(sorry if my english isn't great, Im swedish)

Not at all, if it isn't in use or connected to anything then it should ever be able to cause an issue, be it dry or fully submerged in water.

Have you a picture of said wire? Is it under the windscreen within the drainage scuttle, or under the scuttle in the engine bay

Yes, within the drainage scuttle below the windscreen. Dont know if you can see in this pic, but this is the one I mean.
Actually, after having a 2nd look... the Bravo has a much better design at this area (compared to my brothers Renault), no relaybox close to it etc.

Yep that's for factory fitted alarm siren, if not fitted then it'll just be tied up like that and left disconnected.
