General New to forum - couple of questions

Hi there,

I’m new to the forum as I’ve just bought a 57 plate 150T Sport (did have a Corsa but needed more power ), really pleased with the car but just have a couple of issues to find out about.

So firstly, even if I start the car from cold, as soon as I put the air con on the engine fan will immediately come on, run for a while, go off then come back on – if the air con isn’t on the fan doesn’t come on nearly as often - coolant level is fine and the engine temp gauge only ever gets to halfway - also the fan itself is very noisy – my friend has a 59 120T Active Sport and his is a lot quieter and doesn’t have the same issue.

I’ve also noticed that when driving there is a continual electrical whining/whirring sound coming from the front - seems to be behind the passenger side of the dashboard but could be wrong – it’s nothing to do with the fan/air-con/being in gear – it’s just there all the time. My friends does the same but he’s never wondered about it - he’s had his car nearly 3 years and its never got any worse– any ideas ?

Does it have climate control? Does it all work?

No it doesn't have climate control, just air con. All works fine, nice and cool.

you sure it's not that your Mays doesn't work properly and yours does?

Air con tends to turn my fan on most of the time. The fan probably comes on first to bring the temperature down for the aircon straight away. Then when it gets cool and is running fine will turn off until it is needed again. Sounds fine to me in all honesty

The fan thing is perfectly normal, mine does the same.
It's because the radiator for the engine and the radiator for the aircon uses the same fan.
Mine is a bit noisy as well, but it's always been like that, so i'm not going to do anything about it.
