On further inspection of my prep for my upcoming service I plan to do at the weekend... I found there are two types of oil filters, at least for the 1.4 150 Tjet version avaliable.
Purflux Type
Or
Ufi Type
They look as though they have a different fitment and the Purflux Type has a sort of rubber gasket thing that comes along with it...
Any ideas? Cheers.
 
I think I'll just order both of them as it's only £9.50 odds for the more expensive one so not losing out that much. Might buy it local and then return the one that doesn't fit.
 
You tried putting your reg into euro car parts and see which type comes up?
If both, just get one of each like you say and return the unused one :)

Yeah done this already mikem1989 cheers anyway! :) yeah I'll probably just get both... then return the type that doesn't fit... shouldn't be a hassle I would imagine. It's not even listed in the fiat manual....weird.

I found it difficult to remove the Purflux oil filter ...............in fact, I could not shift it.
As its a plastic top, I was reluctant to use a lot of force.
I read somewhere that when hot, they might be hard to move..................so How did you get on (Chris) with your oil and filter change?
Any clues would be useful?

To be honest it just got changed today, along with new spark plugs... weather took a turn for the worst when I went to attach my new BMC air filter so get that another time... took me about 3 hours with shredded knuckles, a lot of head scratching and numerous cups of tea! And I have a 12 point socket set rather that the 6 point that is required for optimum grip... therefore the sump plug just rounded off... managed to get it off and replace with a new one though :)

Once you take the oil filter heat resistant material, find yourself a flex adapter for your socket set... would of been screwed otherwise... don't even need to move any hoses!

2 things: first off as this is the first car I've had with a paper filter (usually metal can type) I struggled to separate the old filter from the housing but got there in the end... looked like the spring was on the wrong way.round from previous oil change!
Secondly... to anyone who has ventured to do the oil change themselves... did you notice hoe much old oil was left after removing the filter?! Bloody ludicrous!! Had to put some kitchen roll on the end of a very long file and scrape the old oil out!
Anyway, job done for another year even though it was done 1,600 miles after the service spanner came on! :banghead:

Should hopefully see the full effects of Castrol Edge after the next brimmed tank.
The spark plug connectors were a pain in the arse I'll say that right now!
