Hi everyone,

Looking at the 1.9 120 Dynamic, just wondered what the real world MPG is for this? Looking at this as an alternative to the Focus due to the turbo probelms they have on the 1.6 and the flywheel problems on the 1.8, obviously not going to get the same as the 1.6/1.8 but just wondered if some people could let me know what they get, around town and then on a long motorway run 300+ miles.

I know everyone drives differently but a rough idea from a lot of people will still help me make my decision!

Thanks

My 2.0 can do 406 miles on about half a tank at 60mph... hope this gives you abit of an idea

Oh really, how about 70? Is there a massive difference? Not that I even do 70 on motorways anymore

Also does cruise control use more fuel? or less?

70 bumps my fuel up to about 3/4 of a tank so about an 1/8th to a full quarter more! And nope CC all the way nice steady driving  just sit back and relax

Bravo does seem to be the one, especially when they're not known for any significant mechanical problems, that i'm aware of, whereas the competitors of this size car etc have flaws...

The 1.9 120bhp in my Grande did around 44mpg. The gearbox on that was weak however the Bravo comes with a different 5 speed I believe.

The turbo was replaced on mine due to a faulty batch and the DMF replaced at 50k miles when the dreaded rattle started.

It's a noisy engine, strong in itself though.

The 1.6 diesel Focus are fine as long as looked after properly.

Started to talk myself out of the 120 Dynamic now purely because of the climate control issues, and it'll just be my luck that it breaks on me!
Now looking at the 2.0 Sport, the insurance is much different and the tax the same, however do these ones have the DPF problems?

Diesels only have DPF issues if they have not been used properly.

The DPF in my Focus has been fault free for the last 37k miles but I do motorway miles and longer trips. Town driving and short journeys are not good for a DPF

I have a 1.9 MJET sport and I must say it's easily the best car I have ever owned. I use it for 55 mile motorway round trips, I stick to 60 and don't use CC anymore as it is less economical in my experience. I have done almost 50k in it and have not experienced any issues at all, it has sailed through 3 MOTs and I must say is one of the best looking and exclusive cars on the road. My Trip Computer on average says between 59 - 62 mpg depending on the dreaded M27 traffic... Hope this helps. I don't have a DPF either ?

Is that the 1.9 150? Or is there another version? Getting abit confused looking at all of these models aha!
If it is 1.9 150, do they have DPF?

Mine doesn't have a DPF and it is the 150bhp version. Must say the power is awesome...

You can probably pick up a 1.9 pretty cheap now, dunno why they don't hold their price. Must be all the goons who think fiats are found in a tip... ?

Please see excert from fiat bravo press release (http://www.fiatpress.co.uk/press/detail/103) 8 valve 120 bhp and 16 valve 150 bhp versions of the 1.9 litre MultiJet powered Bravo feature 5- and 6-speed variants of the C530 manual transmission. These gearboxes combine torque transmission thresholds - 26 kgm and 31 kgm respectively - appropriate to high performance diesel engines with ease of use, gearchange accuracy and exceptional quietness.

So do all 2.0 sports have DPF?

Yes, and the 1.6

It was an option on some. If you've £30 RFL cost then you've probably got a DPF.

My 1.6 120 used to average about 50-53 with local running about and my daily 50 mile round trip on the dual carriageway to work and back at 60mph on the flat with CC, and about 58 on a decent long journey.

Every car has pros and cons, but remember to factor in that the Bravo is likely to be ££££ cheaper than an equivalent Focus.

I know not everyone will agree but you should also consider a chrysler (lancia) delta due to the chrysler branding used prices have dropped like a stone and it's just a bravo on a slightly longer wheelbase and distinctive modernistic styling. Even the 2.0 limited complete with poltrona frau leather interior and dash appears to retail at around £8k for a low miles car no older than 2011 smaller engined cars seem to start at less than £7 k. As with all fiat group cars they are not as bad as they are painted by the UK press
