Hi all

I noticed a noise from around the engine whilst driving, but only when slowing down. I found it to be when the engine's revs go down, and immediately before it settles something next to the engine vibrates, or rattles. No idea what it is.

Then, I noticed this vibration is felt through the clutch pedal when resting my foot on top, but here it feels more like a grinding feeling. It stops almost immediately, but the noise doesn't sound healthy.

The car drives fine. No problems at all, only when the revs slow to settle is the noise and vibration/grinding felt.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Chris

Thanks

Is it likely to fail/break? I have an 8 hour round trip tomorrow. I f it does fail, what will happen and can roadside assistance fix it, even temporarily?

I wouldnt drive it.

If that vibrates free , it will have enough kinetic energy to make its way into the cabin or skywards. Not nice.

Cancel your road trip , if it lets go and causes an accident to you and others how would you feel.

It was only last night, as I arrived home and went round a corner and then stopped on my drive I notice the rattle. My garage mechanic has said he's never known them to fail, they simply get noisier, and changing gears is less smooth, which is their intended use anyway. So, it's safe to drive but could get noisy, and gear shifting me be a little more clunky. Still, I'm getting a price for a new one for the sake of knowing and since the car is less than 2 months to me (2010 reg) the dealer will be sorting it.

Thanks

Chris
