Hi Guys, I have a BRAVO ACTIVE JTDM (120) which has nearly hit 100,000 Miles. I am considering having it remapped to mainly increase the MPG.

Would this be safe for the Bravo since its engine has hit nearly 100,000 Mileage.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but won't the remap delete the egr ? Or would they need to blank it out ? I don't want the hassle of engine light displayed ... Anyone ?

Most times, the EGR will be closed during (good) remap.
But it will always stay open a little, so blanking it, will close the EGR 100%.
That;s what I did with my 2004 Alfa GT jtd ( 200.000mls...!), closing the EGR during remap, and blanking it myself afterwards.

I have a 1.9 150. I just remapped it with a variable plug and play box (I can turn it on/off and vary the map by remote while engine is running).

I found economy increased aprox 20% and power is near enough 200bhp (RR before and after). Drivability improved no end as well.

A custom map may get slightly better results, but I'm more than happy. EGR wise, I simply fitted a drilled plate so the car still thinks it is there, but hardly anything flows through it :)

I'd highly recommend removing both cats too - currently NOT REQUIRED as long as the car passes the mot smoke test.

A drilled plate is not the way to go, you'll be shocked to see how much sooth and carbon will enter the engine, controlled by the EGR.

For me it was the way to go. (fingers crossed) I have had no running issues at all and it is only drilled in a couple of places if I remember rightly.

All jtd's come with a retrofit, drilled (4 hole) EGR gasket these days.
Still huge amounts of sooth and carbon will flow trough those (small) holes...

200hp, are you sure?
how long do u have that and what did you have to change ?

I think the RR said 195 to be precise but the cats have been removed since then.

Completely standard 1.9 150s can be mapped to about 215 but not wise for the clutch.

What matters ultimately is how the car drives and how it performs on the road.

I've had the car about 18 months and she has now done 60k. The brakes were the first part to be upgraded.

All those paper reports are not real, realty is on road!

Try accelerate from:
* 37 - 60 mph in 4.gear
* 60 - 100 mph in 4. and 5.gear

Report times, please (y)

any tips of blocking off the egr? as the way i see it if its closed no air is getting into my engine, unless i was looking at the wrong part? :confused:

Also after speaking to a Remap company about deleting my EGR, they have said DO NOT blank or delete it if you have a DPF fitted as this will cause alot of problems (n) so best bet is to get the DPF off too (y)

You are correct.
I have removed the two catalysts on my car.
Have a look here for cat/dpf replacements and EGR blanking plates.

I'm guessing http://js-tuning.nl have changed their website?

I got my downpipe from there - very helpful and great service.

Real world? Accelerating from 30 to 70+ I have out dragged civic Rs and Focus STs. (Yes they were trying). I wouldn't expect to beat them if they were modded as well, but just saying that a remapped Bravo diesel is a very good machine in a straight line under load.

Yap, tuned jtd is really unbelivable.
Fergie can u report times from 30-70, that can be very fast if u have in 3.gear, which is very powerfull. And 62-100 in 4.th gear

Please be aware that tuning boxes cause more ecu failures than anything else. Rolling roads are a waste of time as I took my car to 3 separate places with 3 different results . WARNING. Be careful.
