Hi all,

I've recently bought a 10 reg Bravo 2.0 multijet 165 Sport with around 50k on the clock. On the review from Parkers it says the fuel usage should be around 55MPG (combined). I'm getting average of 45MPG. I've tried the usual tricks of filling the tank with shell V-power and gone up and down a motorway to burn off the carbon buildup. I've put in many bottles of CarLube (alternative to redex). I've also tried different fuels from different places but it's simply not improving.

Anyone else getting low MPG? Is there anything else I can do to improve this?

Thanks

Chris

Thanks. That's a given, and I have tested this for a little, resetting the computer too, but doesn't really show much of an improvement. I've found a similar post and they've suggested getting the Eco:Drive app so I'll try that too.

I was thinking the engine needed a little tuning / cleaning, etc to get the fuel economy much better

I have a 2009 2.0 MJet and I my trip computer shows 40 - 42 MPG for my driving to and from work which is a mix of 30mph and 60 mph roads.
When driving the length of the country however on Motorway and main roads it was over 60 MPG on the computer.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like my car runs the same then. I'll see if eco: drive offers any additional input for improvement. Thanks

Hi
I just bought the same car and I'm very disappointed by the mpg I get 42 mpg with 80 mile a day(40 each way), 31 miles motorway, 2 miles slow moving traffic and 7 miles 50 mph A road. I have the eco set on On but what does it actually do? The mpg didn't get any better anyway. If you want 55 or better then you will have to stick to 55mph in 6th gear. I also tried v power but it didn't work mind you I did the notice a smoother drive.if you find I way of getting better mpg let me know! My previous vw would do 52 at 80 mph no problem but it was a PD engine so now is impossible to find a newer car with it.

I have found the real mpg figures quoted on the honest john website to usually be a good guide. It seems the people who submit their figures are quite honest themselves.
The OP's figures seem about right.

That's a great website. And yes, I'm about average with 45MPG

Thanks to everyone for their input on this.

Cheers

Chris

I can get 406 miles on half a tank if i brim it driving like a boy racer.. if i do it till the pump stops and i drive at 70 ans 60 on the a roads i can do it in just over half a tank.. so anyone know the tank size? Work out my mpg

To get a more accurate figure, brim your tank, do your journey/journeys. Fill your tank again, take a note of how many litres, change into gallons (1 litre is 0.22 gallon) and divide your miles by this figure

Most folk with the 165 get 500 miles out a tank (warning light on and 47 litres to fill) but others claim to get over 400 on half a tank. 270 and mine is sitting half empty.100k in mine over the past 5 years and I get about 45-48mpg. There is no way in hell a 2 litre Bravo gets over 60mpg that's living in fantasy world.

I drive from liverpool to lossiemouth which is 406 miles.. if i brim the tank i can do it in half a tank.. if to just full its inbetween 3/4 and half... so yeah my 165 does more than yours.. get over it

That is impressive. If I drive from where I am, Bathgate West Lothian to Albert Dock in Liverpool it takes me just under half a tank.
Rafsteve have you had yours remapped?
I think mine is in need of a very good service and new air filter, which I will be fitting Sunday ?
