Hi,

Was wondering weather or not I can play music via the USB port using my iPhone 6 with IOS 8.

I picked up my 2009 Bravo 165 sport yesterday and plugged my phone into the USB port and it would'nt play through the media player.

Cheers in advance.

Matt.

it will not work, you have to have a USB FAT32 with songs. That should work.On newer Blue and Me I think it would work the way you want.Until 2009 it will not work.

Oh ok.

I'll just put some tracks on a USB stick.

Thanks for your help.

You can use a blue and me adaptor. Cost around £40-£50 on eBay.
Plays songs from your iPhone/iPod

It absolutely DOES work with an iPhone. I have used blue and me with an iphone 4, iphone 5 and my brand new iphone 6+. Don't just accept first thing that is posted on a forum as fact, as obviously the person that told you it doesn't work, doesn't know what he's talking about. Not his fault he doesn't know obviously.

I not only use it for phone calls, it works for my music media library. My spotify app and my YouTube app. In fact once it's plugged in any sound that would normally come out of the phones speaker will come through your cars speaker. And it also charges your device too. You can also use steering wheel controls to skip songs and it even tells you what song is playing on the little screen between your speedo and Rev counter (y)

You will need however an adaptor which unfortunately is £51 new on eBay, however people sell second hand ones all the time on there and a Google search may bring you even cheaper results, here's a link to the £51 one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Genu...ptor-Apple-iPhone-iPod-71805430-/321096705444

It's called a "blue & me iPod adaptor" (it isn't just iPod it works with iPhones and iPads if you're brave enough to use your iPad in a car)

You will also need to use an apple verified lightning connector. The one you get with the phone will work but most use this as sync/charging cable.and you will want to keep one in your car so use google to find Apple verified cables. For example there's a 2 metre one you can buy on Amazon for £12 or you can buy one straight from Apple but I believe they will be more expensive. Don't buy dodgy £2 ones from eBay because they aren't certified by Apple and the iPhone will not work with it. (It will say something like "accessory not compatible"). Don't waste your money with cheap ones trust me. They're crap and won't work.

He was asking for out of the box solution for playing music only without add on. I do not know what people want or do not want to buy to make it work. And out of the box it does not work the way he asked ! I did not intend on misleading him, just telling him the facts. You do not need to be rude and make false accusations.

Just got mine for £38. Now looking for decent priced iphone usb cable, looking for the original one. Looks like £15 for Apple Store or currys.

I was messing about with google maps on iphone with the blue and me connected (not the adaptor nor on charge) and the navigation voice played through the speakers.

Yes it will, but even better than that. When plugged into the USB port, If you play your music through the music app or even spotify it will turn your music down automatically whilst giving you the next direction when using the maps app as a Sat Nav, it will them turn your music back up after its given you the direction. And even better than that the buttons on your steering wheel still work to change the music so no need to ever touch your phone :)

I agree but I download MP3's to my phone via a app called Tdownloader, music doesn't come in the music app so I decided to buy the adaptor that way I can charge play what I want and use google maps at the same time. I also got a air vent iphone holder which holds it nicely in the middle.

I also have an air vent holder. Let's me use the maps and see notifications when I get them. And using "hey Siri" I can respond to them, without ever touching the phone.

For those that don't know what hey Siri is. When an iPhone with Siri is plugged in and charging if you say "hey Siri", Siri activates without ever touching the phone, and of course being plugged into the blue and me all sound and responses come through your car speakers :)

Try it, you can have Siri read you text messages and reply to them or call people. You can even say things like "hey Siri, take me home" or "hey Siri, take me to my cousins" and it will automatically open maps and take you home/cousins house as long as you have the addresses set in your contact info, then again if you don't you can just tell siri what postcode you want to travel too, or even ask it to take you to the nearest McDonalds. (I used this in mine head once. Was a lifesaver. That cheeseburger literally saved me oh and it does all this whilst playing your music and giving you the directions through your car speakers... I love iPhones :)

Remember the blue and me system only plays the sounds your iPhone makes. So the real brains here are the iPhone's themselves. Whole multimedia devices right there in your pocket. With safe driving practises built in. Once I plug my phone into the blue and me I don't need to touch it until I stop. And don't quote me on this but I'm almost positive that android phones don't work with blue and me. (Which as I'm an apple lover think is hilarious)

Excellent.

I bought an i phone cable in the £ shop plugged my phone into it and plugged into the car and it plays my music with no problem

Hi, We have just bought my daughter a 2009 500. She has the Blue & me Adaptor, she has an iPhone 6 and has updated the software in the car to the 5.6 version. She has an Apple lead as well. The phone is now charging and it is linked via Bluetooth to Blue & me.

However she is still unable to play her Spotify music nor can she get maps or calls pulled through from the phone to the car.

is there something we are missing in the process to get this to work fully including using the steering wheel controls.

Thanks in advance

Hi Jason you may enjoy more luck with this query if you ask it in the 500 section (your in the bravo one ATM) Although the bravo does use a blue&me system it may be different to the one in the 500 :)

Just to clarify, the older models only require the adaptor. See chart with details.
