Hi all, I have a water leak from the L/H corner of the roof under the black rubber strip that goes from the front of the roof to the rear. The leak is about 5" from the rear. has anyone had this before ??? Thanks Andy

I had that three or four times when I went with the car through the carwash. The first time I was shocked when the water started pouring in ...I had a cup from chewing gum and I put it under to collect water.Than I went again and I observed what was going on.After that I tried to reapply pressure on the rubber and cleaned the rubber and the opposite part of the roof where it was touching. After that it did not reappear. I hope it will not repeat again.

I had water leakage on rear shelf, left side, after car wash. Water was leaking through third brake light because its plastic wasnt on place.
After fixing that-never again

I could leak through antenna bolt hole, and floww on one side. I think that there is no other holes on the roof

Thanks for the information. But I have just been told by fiat garage that the sealant or a weld has failed under the rubber strip. They will take off the rubber strip and grind away the sealant and re weld then reapply the sealant. The rubber strip will have to be replaced then repaint. Big cost for this.
I would have thought that this weld and sealant failure would be a manufacturers issue not at customers expence.

Thanks for the info. I will talk to the dealership on Monday. If I don't get anywhere I will tell them that I will take it further and contact what car.
As there is no accident damage on the car at all. This is a manufacturers build problem. I think that the the water leak problems that other owner's have had from the roof area May be related to this weld and sealant issue.
What do you think? ?
Thanks again. Andy

I have a similar issue of my 2010 , it is on driver's side and appears to be coming from the roof area - maybe 3 or 4 inches back then dripping down inner area, eventually into the wheel well , I have removed the inner 1/4 trim , next I need to remove black roof trim , locate area and reseal . I will keep you informed as well. btw what age is your car ?

Hi Saintetienne.
I have just got my car back from Fiat. This is what they have done it may help you.
If you open the rear hatch back. Look at the top R/H corner of the frame, outside of the hatch door seal to the right of the door hinge right in the top corner you will see the end of the roof rubber moulding. Just below this on the rear frame you will see where the roof, side and rear panels join together. There is a small tab of metal facing you about 10mmx7mm, which is the end of the roof panel.
At this point look for the rear seam where the roof and rear panels join in the top corner. This seam of sealant fails. If you remove the old sealant and re seal this seam and all seams in the top corner this should fix the leak.
I have some photos of the repair if this will help.
Good luck Andy

To solve the water leak problem

Sounds as if Fiat know about this and should deal with problems that come up. It is more than a small disgrace to leave owners struggling with this. I hope we might get some support. And no I will not be buying more Fiats if help is not provided to the people having trouble.

Suggest to Fiat you will be sending letters to the regular motor magazines, If it doesn't get some support it will certainly cost them more than the repair costs you!
