So, took my car to a local garage to get new rear brake pads, discs and calipers because the handbrake kept failing. A friend of mine looked and my car and advised this was the issue. £400 for parts and fitting.

They called me when the work was done to advise me my exhaust is split in 2 and I will need a new centre section and back box.

There are no aftermarket exhausts for the bravo. For them to fit a new exhaust for me it would be £430. I called Arnold Clark to see if this would be covered by my Clark plan/care - surprise it isn't. For them for fit a new exhaust for me £440.

I then contacted long life exhausts in Edinburgh and they have quoted me £330 plus £30-40 if I want to change the exhaust tip from their standard one, for a stainless steel system. Woohoo!

Do I go for something that looks standard? Or something different?

I live in s/w scotland and got my backbox replaced last year ,custom full stainless ,twin exit pipes and a chunk out of bumper for it to pop out ,£150 total ,so id shop about bit more ,even a straight replacement i was quoted £105 fitted

That's a good price aross95 - I will be getting a centre section as well which adds a bit more.
Maybe should have also mentioned its the 2.0 MJet in case that makes any difference in price

Arnold Shark were quoting me £450 for the rear and middle section for my 165 and over £500 fitted. I was around £440ish for a stainless steel exhaust so it was a no brainer. Place was in Glenrothes, they seemed to be pretty good. It looks almost the same as the old one and is no more noisy.

Crazy how much cheaper they are.
With your system did the emissions change? Was the DPF also kept or removed?

Well it passed its MOT in September so the emissions were fine, as you would expect the CAT and DPF were still there all that had changed was the cheap steel replaced with stainless in the same bore. I was not interested in having the DPF removed, that just doesn't interest me, I wanted it to look and sound like stock.

That's good then. I am just looking for the same thing, possibly look a touch different but not massivly.

There is a large variety of tailpipes available I am sure you will find something you like.

The one I ended up with is slightly different in that the standard tips are angled slightly whereas my new ones are cut straight, you would not notice if you never knew and they look like they are supposed to be on the car and not after-market (apart from the shininess which winter dirt has dealt with!)

This is what I was looking at but at 3 inches a piece I don't know if it will be to wide for the cut out in the bumper
