Hello

i have owned my bravo for just under 2 months now and have covered 3500 miles in that

I topped up my rad reservoir a week just after owning to the max arrow

On inspection 5-7 weeks later it has now dropped to just under the min level

I do have white smoke coming out of the exhaust majority of the time but after a while it will stop. (from a cold start it will be plumes of smoke and then die down to a slight barely visible white smoke)

So on a scale of 1-HG failure, where am i at?

Temperature gauge never goes over half way and the engine its self warms up to half way pretty quickly when jumping onto the motorway for 1-2 mins

help oh wise fiat forum people :worship:

Don't simply suspect the HG.
White smoke is normal in colder times of the year for a few minutes after the car warms up as the water/condensation in the exhaust is slowly heated up and turned into steam.
The T-jet engines have more places they can spill cooling fluid from because turbo:
- some have the cooling fan vibrate and wear a small hole in the radiator.;
- some have cooling fluid leak from many of the hose connections
- a guy had cooling fluid leak from somewhere near the turbo
- another possible cause is leaking inside heater.

Check for dried red marks (red like the antifreeze) anywhere in the engine bay,

So found some coolant gathered on the engine, couldn't look for to long because of rain :(

But snapped this video of where it was

Like i said it is on thermostat.
I had same problem. It was leaking because of loose clamp. While was leaking, residue was made between thermostat pipe and rubber hose that wasnt sealed enough. I drained system, cleaned that metal pipe from residue and put new clamp with worm clip.

Also there are several pipe conections on thermostat on which can coolant be lost. Maybe it is better to change whole thermostat

Had exactly same problem, quite easy to change with the elearn off here! No problems since. Same symptoms with the pipe and residue to the thermostat with a slight weep onto the upper gearbox.

Think it could be a common thing with the engine as our other 150 Tjet engine (different car) is going the same way.
