Hi guys .. I'm from Egypt, and that simply means that most of our roads are mile high speed bumps paving the way to unlimited number of potholes. I own a Bravo T-jet 150 sport, with stock suspension and original 225/45/17 wheels, and those are definitely not suitable for such roads. I'm not aiming for a comfortable ride, I just want to raise the ride height to clear the speed bumps, and to use tyres with a bigger sidewall (the low profile tyres develop air pockets from the potholes). I am looking to get 205/55/16 tyres, but I do not know what to do for the ride height. A couple of friends suggested using springs for that. What kind of springs can I get to raise my car, and how high can I go without ruining the handling?
 
I have the 16's on my car. They're the "dynamic" model alloys. And whilst more comfortable they do give you a bit more role in the corners.

As for raising the car. This was brought up before and sort of died out as no one knew. But I'm sure you could get stronger springs. That don't compress as much when the cars weight is lowered onto them. You don't necessarily need bigger springs so to speak. Thats just what I'm guessing. I'm not a mechanic.

I`ve seen in ebay some original 16 alloys by not that expensive price, you can check it out.

<p>what you could try is to use springs from a 1.9 diesel bravo. At least for the front... because the engine is heavier the car should be higher.</p>
you could even try the Stilo 1.9 springs...they might fit.

<p>I have the 205*50*16 dinamic alloys..they are ok for the bad romanian roads...so going to the 55 would be even better for comfy boat-like ride.</p>

<p>the other thing you could do. is find a pair of used-bad shocks..and cut off the part that holds the shock; then use that to fabricate(weld) some 30mm steel pieces that can go in-between the shock and the spring on your setup.</p>

latest update: I managed to swap my 17" wheels with 16"s of another Bravo, then I put 215/55/16 tyres on them .. I've been driving it for only a day now but I'm already feeling the difference .. the potholes and speed bumps are not as annoying as they used to be, and I can clear some of the speed bumps that used to kiss the bottom of the car .. I haven't put the car through any nasty corners yet, but so far the handling feels the same as before. I'm quite satisfied so far. (y)
 
I was thinking of buying this.What do you think? We have a lot of snow and I usually touch the snow or ice when the roads are not plowed.
