I have this bravo for the last 4 years, and about a month i am hearing a light turbo whistle in low speeds. 1,2,3 gear. After 2500 rpm sound disapears, probably because engine becomes louder. When radio is on, i dont hear the whiste. Does anybody have the same issue.i know this probably means nothing, turbo can last 100k miles more, but it is annoying a little bit. I have 80.000km kilometres. Pipes seems ok.

Hi there, it is funny we meet here:) I suggest you take it to Fiat Marko Kavcic from Ljubljana he is the best. But he had an accident and I think he just returned back to work.He is the one you want. He solved all my issues with Fiat cars and he still services my Bravo.

:)

I would go there again, since you were there a month ago for the servicing of the car. Try to get in touch with Marko and if he is able to check the issue himself, as he had an accident a month or so ago. I spoke with him a while ago regarding one of the diesels, and he said that a turbo can have a sound, especially when it is cold, but it can go for 100000km. It all depends, perhaps there is an issue with the seals or there can be another hole somewhere in the pipes. I think if there were other problems, you would get the error from the electronics. Does the car pull normally when it is warm? Do not push it over 4500, can you record the sound and upload it to the YouTube?

The car is going fine, no error light or anything. How do you mean not to pull over 4500rpm, the excitment starts then :)

I have a lot of short rides, up to 5 km in Ljubljana. I work 5km away from my home. but, I recenty installed novitec powerjet tunning box. But i doubt this has anything to do with.

I spoke with Marko today he told me not to worry, his fiat scudo has turbo sound since new, and is not getting worse. He told me to stop by if sounds gets louder. until then, just drive as turbo should be driven.

Maybe i could make a video and uplod it.

If you drive it to high revs after 5km, and not warming up the core of the engine, you will damage the car engine. Also if the car does not pull up to 4500 or max 5000, than you are driving it wrong, check the torque curves for your engine. Even the gasoline powered car shows the temperature of the engine is sufficient after cca 10km, but the engine oil temperature which should be around 92-98C is reached only after 20km.Pushing the car to high revs below that can be done, but in the long run it is not good. Try sprinting 100m after you wake up, than tell us how you feel :)
Marko is a nice guy, but he is still a service engineer and he earns his living by fixing things. From my experience he is honest but still you are the one who has to take care for your car if you want to enjoy it. Some of the guys who remaped it/tuning boxes had problems afterwards. Also, even after all warming up time of the engine, if it was reved hard, there has to be a part of the drive where you "cool" the turbo, engine by driving it normally. Enjoy your Bravo as it is still a good car.

I am not pulling my car if the motor is cold. I know this does bad to the motor. I think the most damage is done because i am driving very low milage on higway.motor oil is changed every 5000km,i am taking care of my engine.but sill, sometimes it doesnt want to listen. :)
Im gettng water temperature to 90c after 3 km. Oil temperature would need to check through obd.also my bravo is the second family car, for trips we are using skoda octavia since it is a company car, for private use also.

Stop driving that Skoda thingy, perhaps your Bravo is just sad and he wants revenge :D PS: The problem might be some residue build up from gasses on the inside of the turbine and causing it to sound different while spinning.

Why don't you record the sound and post it? There is a specific sound of the excessive pressure release valve in some of the Bravos - not everyone has it, I do. And it gets louder if the car is remapped since the turbo builds more pressure. It's a distinctive valve sound, similar to a blow-off valve, and you can hear it if you floor the accelerator while running in low RPM - for example in 3rd at 2000rpm and floor it.
