The wiper starts all by itself, will wipe for about 20 seconds before finally stopping at any random position on the rear wind screen, switching on the rear windscreen wiper seems to do nothing either and after it stops by itself it will go off again after a few minutes. It always comes on when I switch the car on. Anyone have any idea whats causing this other than some spooky Halloween mischief? The cars a 1.4 Dynamic 09 plate.

Ive noticed when its raining if you have youre front wind screen wipers on, when you select reverse gear the rear wind screen wipers will come on itself.

only when you select first gear it will stop.

Its some Fiat Bravo Feature.

yes before this started happening that was the case with my bravo, with the front wipers on, as soon as I engaged reverse gear the rear wipers would automatically stay on until I went back into first, this no longer is the case and the rear wipers come on and off as and when they like

Does you rear defogger work?
What about the boot brake light? does that work?
Does the wiper work correctly when you operate it? i.e does it start when you want.. and stop when you want?

I'm asking because it might be that the wires inside the rubber boot that go to the hatch might have been damaged and when they touch .. strange things happen.

it managed to get back to normal all by itself! :D Was getting worried I would have to get a new motor for the rear wiper but its completely back to normal and full functionality somehow, still pretty weird how that would happen

I have absolutely identical problem and don't know what to do ... Does anyone have any idea?

I had exactly the same problem with my Bravo. It was intermittent for a month or two (it would play up for a day then be fine for ages) and then just seemed to stop completely and I've never had a problem since, a year or two later!

Hello,

The problem for me is becoming more common, because after every heavy rain last wiper is getting wild and has its own rhythm of turning on and off. Obviously the problem is that water enters somewhere and is doing short, but I was wondering if anyone knows what locations to check where the water could come in and do a short circuit that made last wiper go wild.

Thnx.
