Odd one this but does anyone know if there is an ignition switched (ie. kills power when ignition off) 12v feed on the bootlid or in the boot area at all?

Having been rear ended, I'm going down the route of a 2 camera installation but in the boot! Thing is, I don't want to necessarily run the power cable to the camera all through the car and would rather to tap it into an existing feed somewhere.

Managed to rig up the rear camera feeding it into the front fuse box under the glove box.

Quite impressed as the camera is positioned at the top of the rear screen but you don't notice it at all when you look out the back. Although the rear screen is fairly large, the actual visability is a lot less - essentially only where the wiper wipes. With the camera positioned in the non wipe area, you don't see it from inside the car - and before anyone asks, yes it still works through minor dirt, etc on the screen (bearing in mind I'm always cleaning the car, its not an issue anyway!).

Picture below for what I see when looking out my rear view mirror. You can just see it, but its hardly blocking vision! I see more wiper than camera :)

I'm happy with it and now have some peace of mind for the next incoming lorry!

I have a BlackVue Dr400 ii upfront and a Blackvue Dr3500 at the rear. Video output is good and the software with blackvue is excellent. not the cheapest cameras around but in the end of the day, they work and in the event of an accident you can prove complete innocence.

My front camera made the world of difference in my claim against the lorry that used me as a brake :). The othe party has admitted liability so I'm now just waiting on their idea of a settlement amount.

Remove the small carpeted cover on the near side wheel arch in the boot. Fish around in there towards the rear and with luck you will find a connector that is intended for the 12v socket fitted to some models

Oops just realised this is an ancient Post!
