So I've decided to future proof a bit on my plans for mods for my car, and would like to buy a WiFi/Bluetooth ELM327 adaptor for my OBD II port so when I eventually upgrade my Head Unit one day I'll be able to mirror my Android's screen onto my head unit and be able to read all the values off from there.

I asked some friends of mine also with Bravo's and theirs didn't work. So using a somewhat different adapter that my friend has in his Fiesta we tried it out on my Bravo. We tried 2 different apps (Torque and DadhCommand) and they both popped up with errors. We made sure it wasn't my phone at fault, cause we tried with 3 different phones: Galaxy S2, Galaxy S4 and some silly new LG android phone.

Each time the error popped up, it said I needed to download a special protocol. So does anyone know where I could find this protocol so that it will work?

I use cheapest OBD Bluetooth adapter from ebay with Torque on Huawei cellphone and Asus tablet. Works great on few cars (Honda, Ford etc) and on my Bravo too, reads all sensors, delete engine faults etc.
No special protocols or setups needed

Okay that's weird then. Dunno why it wasn't working for me then

It is possible that some adapters from ebay are faulty. I have bigger and smaller type of Bluetooth OBD adapter to use with Torque, two USB OBD adapters-one of them is "tweaked" for Fiat cars to use with MultiEcuScan
All works great.
But one OBD -to-3 pin adapter that i ordered was faulty.

Also after i purhased full version of Torque, it worked much better than free version (no connection problems etc.) Also registered version of MES worked much better than free version which often didnt wont to connecect with car ecu

So I downloaded the Torque app for Android (the full version) and a plugin for it called Fiat Advanced EX (It includes extra's for most Fiat models and helps with compatibility. So I'll borrow both my friends WiFi OBD2 transmitters (they're both supposed to be identical and both work in their different Ford Fiestas) and I'll see if it works, Crossing fingers hoping that it will work!

Fiat also require a modified elm, something to do with a different resistor on one of the circuits on the PCB...

Cheap Chinese ELM-327 clones have a 120 ohm resistor connected across the CAN bus (pins 6 and 14). This should not be there. It's shown on the datasheet fr the CAN chip they use, but there should only be one at each physical end of the bus. Adding an exra one causes issues. You can tell if your interface has the resistor fitted by measuring the resistance between pins 6 and 14. If it is less than 200 ohms you need to open it up find the resistor and remove it. Not easy on the small wirless adaptors.

I use a wifi one from amazon (it's black) and connect through torque on my new 7" android head unit and it shows all live data about the engine. Boost pressure, engine temp, speed, revs, manifold pressure

Just remember when connecting to the device you have to pair it with the device first like connect through blue tooth or wifi THEN Launch Torque

The faulty interfaces will often connect and read basic codes but fail when you try to connect to specific modules. The fult applies to USB, Bluetooth and wireless adaptors.

All I know is in my 2007 Fiat Bravo 1.4T-Jet 150 Active the Chinese (Blue ones) normally Bluetooth and blue in colour don't work. But! The amazon (Black Ones) the Wifi ones work

Hello,
I bought the ELM327 with the blue color from ebay and I had the same problem with my fiat bravo 2 1.4 90ch, the device could not connect to ECU and indicators of gasoline and temperature starts to swing and even worse I had the airbag light that showed up...
Any solution please?
Thanks.
