I plan on doing an oil change (3 years@37k) on my 1.4 Multi air turbo.
The book says :Synthetic SAE 5-40 ACEA C3.

I was thinking of using some TRIPLE QX, which has a spec of:5-40, to ACEA A3,B3,B4...............but also conforms to VW 502.00, 505.00, BMW LL-01, and other munufacturers specs.

What is your view on this seemingly lower spec oil, if used in the MULTI AIR
engine with it's complicated valve gear, and Turbo.

From what I read on AO the multi air units in the Mito and guilietta are sensitive to oil, personally I'd stick with the correct selenia oil grade and then at least if you have any problems in the future after your warranty you're more likely to get a good gesture will out of Fiat - maybe!

Stay to what fiat suggests(selenia 5-40).Multiair is sensitive and it is worth to jump to an other oil if there is no reason.

+1 on that. I've read many threads there about multi-air failure, many times only because of incorrect oil grade or overfilling of the oil. I suggest you let an authorized dealer make the oil change for you.

Thanks for all your replies..........I have decided to play safe and use Castrol EDGE 5-40.
The critical part of the spec is the C3 which the EDGE is!..............so a premium oil is the way to go with the Multi-air engine.
I would buy their Salenia oil, but it is about £50.............for 4 Litres.

Have you tried Shop4Parts? There are discounts available for donated members. I'll always buy Selenia for absolute peace of mind especially when theres maybe only a few quid in it.

The last time I looked at Shop4parts, the price for Selinia was north of £50 delivered.

I eventually I bought the Castrol Edge from ASDA for £36 for the 4 litre can.
