Hi guys, after 38.000km and out of warranty, the yellow light(exhaust) came on and the start/stop came off. The fiat mechanic told me that possibly is the "beggining" of multiair failure. The last 2,5 months, the light came on at about 5 times....After 1 or 2 restart the engine, the light come off and the car is working fine. Do you believe that there is problem to keep ignoring this failure? I believe that when multiair unit needs replacing the light will come on continiously. It is the only problem which i have with the car but it is a serious one i believe..(n) The cost of replacing the multiair unit is about 900 euros!! But who can ensure me that after 40.000km or so , maybe i need to replace again the multiair unit???

Having looked around the alfa forum, the multi-air failure seems a terribly common issue. However, I remember that in most cases it was changed under warranty and the issue didn't come back again. Are you still under warranty?

No that is the problem.Warranty expired 6 months ago.I chose multiair for better but....

I don't blame you for choosing the multi-air. On paper, it's much better than the t-jet engine. I myself would've bought the multi-air engine if it was available when I bought the car. The t-jet engine itself is usually very reliable, but it seems that, as always, adding variable valve timing technology introduced a lot of problems. Typical of Fiat though; a good idea poorly executed.

Moving on from the rant, your best bet would be to contact fiat themselves or send them an email. They know full well how susceptible the multi-air units are to failure. Believe me, they won't be surprised by your problem.
