Hi,

Got a problem with the passenger air vents in my 08 Bravo.

The passenger air vents only blow hot air, no matter what the air temp is set to on the controller, whilst the driver side seem to work correctly. Also, the air going to the windscreen does not work at all./

Does anyone know if there's a way to reset it, or do I need to change parts (is it easy to DIY)?

Cheers,

Paul

It sounds like an flap actuator has either broken or failed. There are plenty of issues with Bravo heating systems now unfortunately.

It depends on which ones as to how easy they are to fix but could well be a dash out job...(on mine the recirc flap actuator arm broke so I just left it open, I didnt fancy the dash coming out)

Thanks Prov.

Not too bothered about the windscreen at moment - just trying to get cold air into the passenger side of the car.

I've looked at some of the threads, and tried to understand them - I'm presuming the actuator is behind the glove box and I can get to it in the passenger foot well?

If its something I can just force open, I may do that as a temporary fix.

It sound like two of your actuators are broken, the one that controls the air to the windscreen and one the controls heat to the passenger side. The one that controls the air to the passenger side broke on mine and I had to change it (p/n 0046723463). Some weeks after replacing it the one that controls the air to the windscreen broke so I had to strip it down again and replace that one as well. While I had it stripped down I replaced the third one on that side as well, just in case (there are three on that side). Don't know if its the heat that makes them brittle. They cost less than 10GBP each.

Listen carefully in the passenger foot well while the ignition is on. Is there a constant sound of a motor (or two) stopping and starting. If so then it seems it is these parts you need to replace.

You don't need the dash out but you do have to remove quite a few pieces including glove box. Mine is a 2009 Bravo

Thats a huge help - thanks kidneystone.

Yeah - i've been hearing the motor stopping and starting for ages - i always thought it was to do with the radio or something!!!

You're welcome. Here is a picture of just some of the parts you need to remove just to get the passenger side foot well cover off because it is screwed on underneath them. Then the glove box has to come out and then the glove box holder. On top of the glove box holder there is a large electrical module held in place by four screws. When you have unscrewed this module don't unplug it, use a couple of tie wraps to fasten it temporary under the dashboard. When you have changed the ones that need doing you will have to run the reset procedure.

Hi kidneystone,

where did you buy the parts for the car? i've tried a couple of local suppliers, but haven't had any luck.

i did find 1 site on the internet (partsale.eu) but it'll be coming from Denmark.

Hi. I got the parts from

Burrows
290 Penistone Road
Sheffield
S6 2FU

Phone 0114 2857250 when you are through press 5 for parts

Their web site is http://www.burrowsmotorcompany.co.uk/fiat/contact-us/

Don't know where you live but I would think most fiat dealers would be able to get them for you or a least point you in the right direction.

OK, as I'm new to my Bravo I've only just come across this thread. I'm now convinced that's what the noise is in mine. Still getting heat from all sides but really don't want to risk any further damage by continuing to ignore it?

As a rough estimate, what would anyone expect to pay for a garage to replace the parts? I don't trust myself to do it.

With kidney stone's guidance i'm doing mine as we speak. I'm at the stage where i have just stripped everything out at the mo.

Here are a couple of photo's of the passenger side stripped down. Its quite easy to get to this stage if you take your time and go carefully

Yes it looks as if we have had the same culprit. The plastic cogs on mine turn freely and if i move them by hand i can get air to the screen. My issue is i am unable to get air hot or cold to any of the positions.
Next step is to take the motor off which is driving and hopefully it's the same part as your.
Your guide has been invaluable thanks for taking the time to list it.

Don't forget that there are three on that side. I would advise you to change them all if it is the same problem as mine, that way you won't have to strip it all down again when the next one breaks, like I had to.

Run the reset procedure when you have finished.

Well here is a pic of the offending part, it looks as if they are plastic welded together rather than be one moulding. Obviously the weld is not up to the job why why why Mr. Italian engineer didn't you design a single mould for this it would have been much stronger. Wonder if the replacement part is?

Yes that's the little blighter that broke on mine (one of two that broke actually). The replacement part is identical unfortunately. Hope it all works when you fit the new one.
