I have searched and I have read but not really much useful info regarding these over priced little buggers. Mine are indeed corroded the weeny valve inside the schraeder tube is stuck. The tyre fitter who repaired a puncture tried to remove it and it has partly crumbled yet still in there and holding pressure( for now) my question is this. Can i simply drill out or remove the little bugger and retap it using my bikes valve tool. As for a 25p valve paying out 45£ each is rather daft. Especially as new tyres would be a better idea first of all, and adding this plus fitting to the price will take it to well over £600. Any after market solutions or anyone actually seen one can they be repaired ?

can anyone help ? over 60 viewers but noone knows anything ? blimey !

To be honest there aren't many users on here that have them as they were on option. I'm sure someone has them but whether they've had the same problem as you is a stab in the dark.

Could you not just revalve them with normal ones and disable the tyre pressure sensor in the car?

to be honest i agree they are a pain in the a**e, but to disable them is also a pain. ATS quoted 100 each, I had to laugh however they managed to half remove a valve core and I am convinced it will blow itself out soon. I hope it does as my bike valve thread tapper and cleaner will fix the issue. The caps were metal and the combination of metals has caused the corrosion. The weird thing about these stupid sensors is they talk to the traction control and worse they slow you down if you try to speed with an over inflated tyre or under inflated tyre, or anywhere near a military communication antenna. Odd how many of these there actually are. Obviously a safety feature but more of a hinderance than a help. It will still cost me £50 plus to remove them and then pay Fiat to disarm the system !

£50 once, and then it's like £4 for a valve should it happen again. Or the ridiculous price to fix them. For it to possibly happen again. I know which one I'd pick

On more recent cars they are compulsory as well as a potential mot failure I believe as they are self powered they have to be replaced after a few years anyway as you can't just change the batteries, that's what I heard anyway (???) but hopefully after market units will be available cheaper than OE by then. You can always tell a really cold winters day as the dash warning light comes on in morning due to the lower pressure. Never noticed that comm antenna thing and ways run my tyre pressure a tad high as it improves ride and response no wonder my car is sluggish :)

some i have seen you can change the valve stem from within, I am unsure if the Fiat ones are changeable. Even my local garage/dealer claimed to not have any in stock. I know they are the same as Fiat 500 ones and are standard on the Arbath.
