Hey

Well after a 2 week wait my Re-Trimmed steering wheel arrived back from Royal Steering Wheels :- http://royalsteeringwheels.com/

The finish is amazing, and better than a new original one. I know as I did buy one first:-

But I could not fit as it had the wrong air bag mount so I returned it and contacted Jack at Royal Steering Wheels. I have fitted a Bravo plastic steering wheel while it was off as it took 2 weeks to do.

This post is a thank you really as I highly recommend him.

Total cost: 105GBP + 9.99GBP P&P ( Parcelforce next day recorded)

That looks good. My steering wheel is really creased/crinkled all along the bottom, and the top had a few creases in, one of which split the other day.

They're based in Ayelsbury which is only 20 mins from my other half so I could drop the wheel off and pick it up. Definitely going to get in touch with them!

when you say you paid £110 for it to be re-trimmed.....what does re-trimmed mean? As mine will probably need new leather round the top and bottom- is that the same thing?! Just trying to get an idea of cost but I'll email them anyway.

Also how easy is it to get the steering wheel off?!

Hi

Re-trimmed means completely new Napa leather on the whole steering wheel.

I had a local garage remove the wheel due to the airbag, it only took them 30 minutes, so will be charged £40 to remove and then fit the new one.

I will be selling the plastic steering wheel on here for £50 delivered if that makes it easier for you? (still yet to have the new one fitted). Jack can do an exchange but it depends on which air bag you have the bravo has 2 types fitted...

Is the replacement leather better quality that the original? It looks a bit better?

if it is, I'd rather just go with the re-trim. I can drop my car off and leave it there- don't mind paying them to take the steering wheel off and put it back on properly, would rather it's done that way than me bodge it up.

The new leather is much higher quality, very happy with the finish.

I am fairly sure they only deal with the steering wheels due to how many they do, but drop him an email to ask. Due to high demand it takes up to 2 weeks so its a long time be without your car hence why I stuck a cheap plastic wheel on while I waited.

OK thanks, I've emailed this morning so I'll the reply.

I don't think the leather quality on the bravo is that good, not that I'm an expert but the leathers in my bravo dynamic are nowhere near as nice as the ones I've seen/sat on in other cars (although granted those cars cost a lot more!)

when you say he can do an exchange does that mean you can just drive there and he will swap over a wheel he has already re-trimmed?

You choose design and finish, he then posts you wheel with whatever choice of finish.

You get the new one fitted and post your old wheel and he then refunds your deposit.

If you read there website its all there.

do you have a direct email for Jack? tried the info email yesterday morning but not heard anything back

I'd been thinking for some time about the possibility of covering the wheel with leather, then this post appeared. Then, a few weeks ago, when the electric steering unit failed just before a holiday, a plan was hatched. Having to use the AA car for the holiday, and timings, meant the Panda would be unused for 10 days, so might as well make it a fortnight and have the wheel covered.
Sent the wheel to Royal Steering Wheels, brilliant job, no ripples other issues. £115 including return postage, just lovely.
