Technical Aftermarket radio replacements with GPS/DVD/Bluetooth

@jackstar,

After reading this thread (and being very amused by Tad Bravo's post :D) i'm eager to know if you got the unit working.

Nah in the end I gave up on the unit, I did replace the original amplifier in the HU with a new one but something still wasn't right because the front channels were reversed and the only sound that I got from the front left speaker was a loud *POP* whenever the amplifier was turned on. Desoldering and resoldering the amp was so fiddly and time consuming at least with my soldering skills that I just couldn't be arsed to try it again with yet another amp. Especially when the possibility existed that there was a short somewhere else in the circuit that I was unable to locate...

I should have just returned the unit to DX.com instead of tinkering with it, they would have replaced it under warranty. If someone is still interested in this HU I will gladly sell all the bits (it's disassembled right now) :D. It is possible that I damaged the new amp by having the soldering iron too hot and touching the pins for too long...

Anyway, I've decided to go the DIY route and I've recently purchased this: http://i-carus.com/ It is a Raspberry Pi powered HU where all the parts are easily replaceable and upgradeable and because of it being a real computer running Linux the possibilities that you can do with the operating system are endless. I haven't received the unit itself yet so I can't tell much more at this point.

Seen a video on YouTube with something similar but android. I wanted one to that but can't seem to find it. It's got a android computer box that you have to attach to the head unit.

I am just thinking which one is better for my Fiat Bravo, Android or WinCE? Who can tell me? Find the HU from aliexpress with links below,

yes, newest model with quad-core CPU and android 4.4 system
although a little bit expensive but you won't regret
can give an additional US$ 20 reduction by using the promotion code

I'll be in touch maybe in a couple of month for a voucher (y)

If the sound quality of these units and trustworthyness of seicane are my main doubt.
Has anyone got one of these?

Mines at the top where there is a cut out in the plastic for some scensor that i dont have anyway..your HU sounds like a let down.. i went with the S100 For the Bravo and so did swift no problems from us its a solid unit

How the hell did you get your sensor up there lol. I can't figure out how you managed that! :bang:
I've put everything in the glove-box and that as far as I could figure to take it.
I guess you went from the glove-box to the A pillar up and across the roof but I can't figure out how you did it and kept it all hidden.
Did you remove a load of trim?

I went from the pillar to the back of the glove box to the radio and just tucked the wire into the trim up the pillar and roof lining

I can see where you tucked it in the roof and A pillar lining now.
The bit I'm struggling with is from the bottom of the A pillar, how do you get to the back of the glove box whilst keeping the wire hidden?

Open the door and go from the side of the glove box and work in the gaps of the trim and work your way up :)
