Hey you still ok?

Ok post 2 and I like this issue.

While not being technical I'm also not a rally driver. It has been known, upon occasion that I can drive my little car aggressively. Moi?

It has been explained to me that the brake and clutch pedals have activity switches which open when the pedals are pressed. I have been informed I might have hit the clutch and brake pedals at the same time (accidently)and this has caused the system on the car to get confused. When it does get confused the ABS, ESP, Hillholder and on occaision the cruise control & Bluetooth system all stop working and I'm advised to check my handbook. The brake lights have been known to remain on too!

The car meanwhile works fine still!

The cure, is a pair of small hands apparently! a technician / mechanic reaches up under the dashboard to these switches for the pedals and closes the switch rectifying the problem.

Anybody else drive like me? I have big feet I know but there are times when driving that I might need to hit the brakes and clutch at the same time.

Your thoughts please? I like the garage but it's a pain keep going back every few months for 'the same problem' as we now call it!

Thanks.

What you have accidentally done I think is you have caught your foot under the pedal and lifted your foot. This causes the pedal to be forced back up against the switch and push it backwards on its adjusting mechanism. After you get your foot out from under the pedal the pedal returns to its normal and lower rest position. In the normal rest position the pedal no longer touches the switch so the car thinks the pedal is pressed.

On older cars this just turns the brake lights on but on more modern cars then end engine ECU can reduced power (even if the throttle is still pressed), operate the ABS system etc. etc.

S130 seems spot on. On a car with Dualogic gearbox it also gives a transmission fault, stops changes above 3rd gear and you have to hold the key over in the start position for 7 seconds to get it to turn over.

Just fix it yourself next time.
It only takes 2 minutes and a pair of pliers.

you only need to:
- start the engine ( to help you push the brake pedal down.. so you can work
- push brake pedal
- see where switch is
- grab the plastic pin that comes out of the switch and pull on it..you will hear a few clicks....

that is all.

really?

Wow, I may get a torch & see if I can see what you mean. I don't have the smallest hands in the world but I'll stick my head under the dash and have a look.

Thanks.
