Hi. I've just had the cambelt, waterpump and tensioner done on my t-jet 150. There's now a slight whirring noise coming from the cambelt area. It's not loud but is noticeable. Most audible when letting foot off the gas and allowing the revs to drop. The mechanic said its normal and should go in a few days when the belt has 'bedded' in.
Just want to hear people's thoughts on this. I can live with it if its not likely to do any damage. I don't really want to deal with the mechanic again so if I do need to get it sorted I'm hoping it wouldn't be too expensive. Is there anything that can be adjusted rather than having to re-do the whole thing again?

I'm getting mine done next week, it will be interesting to see if I have the same noise.

I don't have the answer but I can share the experience on my 1.4 (90) now at 75k. I had a faint bearing noise which I thought was a waterpump so changed the pump at the time of fitting a new cambelt and tensioner. The noise has continued over another 15k (and another waterpump belt and tensioner in the meantime)and we have now located it (by a process of elimination) to the part of the engine behind the cambelt pulley . Does this mean a camshaft bearing? I dont know. However we have a similar faint noise on our Stilo 1.4 and my neighbour who has a brand new Ka (Ford version of the Fiat 500) has the same noise.
The noise on my Bravo is loudest at about 1500 revs, and most noticeable coming down the revs as Steviejam.
I think I would not be redo the job but run it for a while.

As a matter of interest whose parts did you use?

Thanks for that answer. Unfortunately I don't know the male of the parts used and don't really want to get in touch with the mechanic again for various reasons!

Mine seems ok after being changed today, I did notice a wurr when it first started but this went away.
It's a pitty it came back with a dent in the wing where someone had leant on it or dropped a spanner whilst working on it!

I recently had my cambelt and water pump changed at a fiat dealer and i had no such noise. I was going to advise that the belt was maybe too tight, but i see you've got it sorted now.

Just hope they pay to sort the dent now!
