hi,

I am a very proud owner of a 2009 Fiat Bravo Dynanmic Dualogic and this is a problem that has just happened and I want to know if it is something I can repair/replace instead of going to Fiat.

I went to get out of the car this evening and the interior handle pulled back but the door did not open, I had to get my eight year old to let me out by opening it from the outside!!!!

I've seen a guide for replacing the speakers in the front door which covers the majority of how to get the door card off but I am interested in seeing if anyone else has had this issue and how they went about fixing it.
thanks in advance for any answers.

cheers

You need to get the whole cable assembly. They don't come seperately. Pretty costly to replace imho...if you can live with it..wind down the window to unlock the door before winding back up.

You're assuming that is what has failed though.

Could be interior handle where it connects to the release cable.

Door cards are and easy removal, getting the cable to clip into the plastic section can be a bit of a pig until you know how its done, I know this after replacing two doors ?

thanks for the replies, it was the cable, right at the end that fits into the door handle had snapped off. quoted £80 by Fiat but picked one up online for £37.
when arrived it had a different fitting within the mechanism but I just exchanged the wires over, very simple so I cannot believe that they don't just supply the wires, especially if this is something that happens often. oh well, at least it is sorted now and I do not have to rely on my 8 year old to let me out each time ;)

This is obviously a fault of Fiat Bravos. My 57, had exactly the same problem only about a month ago. I managed to fix it without buying a replacement though, I managed to tie the cable back up.

Hi! Are there any pictures or video how to get under drivers side door handle? I think my cable just fell of its hook... I unscrewed 8 screws and I can't find any clips... to get inside and hook it back into position.

update:

No worries... front door speakers guide helped me to get in...
Aluminium L broke off, but I fixed it with a length of braided metal cordage and electrical terminal. Now I can get out of of my car without external handle.

If you've got all the screws out give the door card a pull from the bottom corners working up the sides to top of door being careful but show it who's the boss,

I also have almost same problem. When I pull driver door handle it do nothing except going like it should open door but nothing happened. So I pull several times hardly and then i got open door.
What should i try to repair?

I have the same problem with my passenger side rear door. Having taken the door card off to have a look my theory is that as nothing is obviously broken that the cable that connects the exterior door handle to the lock catch has stretched, hence why it works intermittently. As the interior handle uses a different cable that would explain why the inside handle works but not the outside. The solution if I am right is to replace the cable but I have not done so as it looks to be a fiddly job. Let us know if you agree that's the problem.
