Hi All.

So i recently bought a 2007 1.9 150 Bravo with 56k on the clock. After a few days i had the engine warning light pop up - had this diagnosed and it came back as the EGR valve. I had the warning reset and all was well for a few days then the light reappeared. Again it the code was the EGR valve P0401

I got the valve + gaskets replaced at a Fiat dealer but the next day the warning light is on again and reading EGR valve again.

Will be phoning the garage tomorrow to see what they say but any ideas what this might be ? Is it possible it was never the EGR valve at fault but the sensor for it ? Any wires i could check the connections that relate to this system ?

The only time I can hear an air related sound is when letting of the throttle - sounds a bit like a recirc dump valve, my old celica gt 4 made a similar sound. Can't hear any air noises under throttle though

Still having issues with this. The garage has replaced the EGR valve again, but the car is still throwing up and EGV valve warning light / code.

Any ideas what this could be ? It cant be the valve itself as it has been replaced several times now but the garage seem to be struggling to find the root cause.

It's a stab in the dark but could be a problem with the MAP sensor not correctly measuring the gases being recirculated - try removing and cleaning it, mine was dreadful - same engine and mileage as yours.

I had my EGR valve replaced buy the local Arnold Clarke Fiat garage under warranty.
What they didn't do however was actually unblock the EGR inlet/intake, this was a mess an nearly completely blocked up which made replacing the valve almost pointless anyway so I carfully cleaned it out with a vacuum cleaner and a screwdriver.

How is the car performing does it feel like there is a problem?

No it doesnt feel like there is a problem. Starts up fine, idle is rock solid, doesnt seem to have any issues under throttle. Havent had the car for long and have only driven a couple of other Bravo's whilst looking to buy one so there is a possibility it not driving quite like it should - but certainly nothing feels majorly wrong.

I'll mention the EGR inlet / MAP sensor and see what they say, cheers for the info

Just spent over £800.00 . solving a big problem .
the Fiat Diablo kept going in to lip mode , in a nut shell the whole system needs to be cleaned of carbon , my fitter put a new D.P.F & a new E.G.R. valve on striped down the system right back to the Engine , the amount of soot & carbon was incredible , thick black carbon. once its all cleaned out . when filling up with Diesel use additive to keep the system clean , & give a good run , using high rev's in all gears , this will ensure you stop the carbon from building up . good luck . FLASH HARRY.
