Hi,

I started to get a really disconcerting rattle today from the front passenger side wheel when it hits even the smallest of bumps. It rattles and sounds like a bag of spanners clinking together.

I don't get any vibration through the steering wheel but really doesn't sound good. I drove it home last night after having it parked up at work for the last few days where that wheel was sitting on uneven snow (so suspension will have been compressed) and didn't hear the rattling, but then today it started as soon as I set off.

Any ideas which bit I should have a look at to see if it is loose?

It is a 59 Bravo T-Jet with the 18" Fiat alloys.

Thanks in advance!

Would advise you check that you dont have a broken spring. The sound you have could well be the loose bit(s) rattling about in the cup at the bottom of the spring . Take care dont poke your fingers in the suspension, use a pickup tool or similar.

Spot on. Jacked the car up and sure enough the lower coil of the spring had snapped off. Managed to get a new one fitted today. Anyone know how much a genuine Fiat Sport suspension spring should cost...just so I know if I have been ripped off by the local repair man?

I don't think I have been but would be good to know if I can trust him or if he has just done me over.

Ta.
