Thinking of upgrading my standard bulbs in the bravo. Standard ones are rubbish. What is everyone using?

Im almost sure there was an older thread about this. I have the same issue though so i guess any help would be appreciated (y)

I've got some Phillips x-treame vision bulbs in my mk2 and they really do shine atleast twice as far if not more

I have seen the difference that HID makes on the bravo and it's really not much better than the standard bulbs and none of those aftermarket bulbs will come even close to the output of HID.

Is that not a contradiction?

HID's on mine (factory fitted like yours I believe are) are fine imo.

I can't see why preformance headlamp bulbs wouldn't result in better light output. They have on all cars I've fitted them to todate.

No.

The factory fitted XENON have nothing to do with the crappy aftermarket HID job people do on the bravo.

The whole lens is bigger in the factory Xenon option and they light up the road about twice as far as the after market HID on normal bravos. so after marker halogen bulbs are a waste of time, the low spec bravo headlights are hopeless.

The huge cost of factory fitted Xenon is worth it when you compare.

(I have experienced all the above configurations)

To get the angle to light up twice as far they would be shining straight in other drivers faces surely.

not at all, you can't even set the factory fitted xenon lights too high since they auto adjust themselves every time you turn them on.

It's more like the standard bravo lights are too low (especially the passenger side) and the lens is too small and of bad quality, it doesn't spread the light evenly.

if you get out of the car you'll notice that most of the light is concentrated right in front of the bumper which is pretty useless.

In the UK the projector globe is the same size on HIDs and standard filament setups. Only difference is to outer the casing of HID dipped beam is smooth plastic where as the standard units dipped beam outer casings are ribbed.

Also tried my HIDs against another members at a meet, light output as expected it far better from my OEM HIDs but pattern and spread is the same as the none HID setup, just the standard setup is very dim in comparison.

Yeah, exactly as you would expect. I still maintain that if they were lighting further up the road as Tad-bravo was mentioning it would be dazzling other drivers.

You're wrong, the Xenon ones have much bigger lens. it's obvious even on photos.

Since I know how stubborn you can get, here's a comparison of my car's headlights vs a UK "normal" bravo:

Any chance you could post a larger version of that pic? The normal lenses are on the bottom?

No, the HIDs are the bottom (y)

As Tad says, in that picture the HIDs seem to have a larger projector unit, then again, in theiory that doesn't always mean brighter, although in this case the HIDs are, as they always will be, the better light outputting units.
