Yes ! It broke at a particularly dangerous time . I have contacted VOSA and they are investigating the part and say that fiat may have to recall the bravo with this clip , the Vosa engineer was horrified

All the bravos I have seen use the clip . The only way to get a new one is via a new master cylinder part . Vosa are investigating with fiat as this is an accident waiting to happen especially if the driver doesn't know how to react ect

Update:

I called the bloke at vosa investigating this and he has asked me to post here and ask if people who have experienced the same issue to email him .

He said "I need the current mileage, when the vehicle was last serviced (where serviced, which service, date and mileage) and the photograph of the failed component (if available) and a description of what happened."

This needs to be emailed to

[email protected]

Include the reference that you are from the fiat forum so he knows this relates this the current enquiry. Doing so will allow him to get enough evidence together to conduct a full investigation into the issue.

For reference the part being reported is this plastic clip found on the master cylinder in which connects to the ball joint on the pedal.

Update: Fiat are to assess my vehicle and redesign the clutch to master cylinder linkage

Wow. Are they doing this free of charge? Is it still worth sending my details to the vosa chap?

Well done for doing something mate.

I had mine done free of charge proberley to get me out the way. However there was a lack of people reporting it so they didn't bother taking it any further . You could send it I guess and it might resuscitate the issue

Hi

Just to reiterate this clip is not available separately ? It isnt the same as the Stilo one quoted on the previous page by the mod ? Mine is yet to fall off but I was fiddling around trying to oil away a squeak when it fell off revealing that its broken into pieces. I have emailed VOSA lets see what happens, i just wondered if the part was available as its an easy fix and keeping a few spare would be no problem.

Hey everyone, this happened to me yesterday, called out green flag and they sent an agent out to have a look, he did something that nobody has mentioned on here so thought I'd mention it, if the White clip is still on the arm, remove it and spin the black arm around, the hole on the opposite side is smaller so clips in tight onto the ball, it got me home and I'm now looking into an alternative way of keeping it on!

So just spin it round and push it on, should stay in place for a while (I drove 150 miles home with it in heavy motorway traffic just using the clutch)

Hi dymmy, did you get anywhere with VOSA? If so could you let me know who to email as the rod on my Bravo popped off tonight due to the white clip having worn completely through. It looks as though replacing the clip may not be enough as the ball has worn into the rod itself after wearing right through the clip.

I got a few pictures:

It's an awful design and ultimately dangerous as it's not a part which is going to be checked for wear. Now I have to decide whether to just get the whole thing replaced at my local garage or go via Fiat.

My temporary fix was a couple of rubber bands. I'm actually quite surprised it didn't fail sooner given the state it's in.

I have bee poing about on Fiat internet sites and have seen somewhere a service item on the Bravo that says change the clutch pedal linkage si I think Fiat can supply this part if they want to. I think it may have been in the Ciao Fiat software on the maintenance schedule section but cant be sure. This is obviously a wearing part so FIAT why not get this sorted PLEASE.

Holy thread revival Batman!

Was there any updates to this from either FIAT or VOSA?

Mine has just come undone the exact same way as brickdog's but I dont fancy the £60 bill

so I emailed VOSA/DVSA, they replied that the case investigated was down to wear on the clutch & gearbox which exacerbated the wear on pedal/plunger connection, when the clutch was replaced, the driver found the clutch was lighter, When the connection failed only a retaining clip had been fitted instead of the whole master cylinder as recommended by FIAT, basically it was a bodged repair they say

Yep just happened to me on the M61, quoted £160 to replace the master cylinder with Gen Fiat part as they can't get hold of a non-Gen part !!!!!
