Technical Handbrake plastic

Mine busted and fiat want to charge me an arm & a leg over here to replace, if you were going to produce another one how much and would you post to Australia??

Even if you replace the plastic part it will break again because do you have to set the handbrake height to the right position otherwise it just breaks again at the same place. It costs 60€ in my country. The part with mechanics work included.I have to get it replaced it snapped on thursday and I arranged the meeting with the local Fiat mechanic for next week.

I knew mine had snapped when the wife got her finger in it as I pulled the hand break, she didn't half scream, what a mess it made of her finger :(
I would also like a carbon effect one :D
But thinking a strip of rubber for longevity . . .

I finally had time to replace the broken plastic (It took me about 3 minutes for installation as the new part was flexible enough for easy assembly) with new and I have to admit that it turned out fantastic. It looks so good that I should produce it and sell it on eBay ... :)

What did you use to repair it? My 2008 Bravo has the same problem.

Hello!

I used plastic folder for paper (because is flexible and hard) on which I stick carbon wrap and after year and a half still looks like new.

I would genuinely buy that. I just noticed mine has broke.
How did you produce this mate?

How do you get the back bit of the centre console off so I can get to it easier. I'm going to replace the broken handbrake bit this weekend but I'm scared of breaking things :/

There's a cover below the A/C vent for the rear seats. You should be able to put your hand between the console and the floor (it's pretty tight), then pull. The plastic is pretty flexible, won't break. There are several screws there; mind you there's one screw on the bottom of the armrest compartment too.

If you try to replace the plastic without unscrewing the front end of the central console, be careful as it is very easy to scratch things while trying to fit the new plastic. It's doable, but you should be careful.

Why don't you use eLearn, it's pretty good for that sort of things.

Thanks for the explanation :) I'll have a crack at that at the weekend.

You'll have to point me in the direction of the elearn. Sounds useful!

I would like buy one to mine (broken) and replace it myself. Is this in eBay?

Simple pull out the broken plastic with little force and it will eventually pop up, then I used the old plastic as template for the new one. As material I've used thin flexible plastic on which I have glued carbon sticker too look more attractive.

I wish there is a drawing on how to remove its.

Mine also broken recently at the same position.

:(
