Hey Guys,

Bought a 2008 Bravo T-Jet few in August this year. I have noticed a 'clunk' noise when I turn left around a corner (doesn't do it turning right.... weird I know). Took it to a mechanic he didn't know what was causing it. Has anyone else had this problem before... or does anyone know what it could be?
Had a quick search of the forums, didn't find anything similar.

Thanks for any help

Possibly a broken spring OR the spring is dislocated / moving on the strut spring saddle plate.

Locate which side of the car the noise is coming from. Left, middle or right and go from there. (I'm assuming the noise comes from the front.)

Another possibility is a noisy / siezed / loose drop link ball joint.

With noises like this then really speculation by me / others is not very helpful. The only only solution is to start lookin and playing yourself.

Try driving the front wheels onto a pair of swivel plates made from some two pieces strong/thick card board, or a perspex sheet or a metal plate or two old TV magazines etc. and moving the streeing. Noise still there? Get some one to mode the steering wheel for you. If it is still clunking then lay gown on the ground and carefully use the tips of your fingers on the component sufaces feeling for the noise.

Checked the springs, all look ok. Appear to be seated correctly. I've narrowed the noise down to front right of the car, near the pedals (RHD). I can actually 'feel' the clunk when I'm touching the pedals. I'll have a good look at it on the weekend, and do the swivel plate idea.

Thanks for the info, I realise its difficult to diagnose car problems with vague descriptions like a clunk noise :)

mine does that, I have put some oil on top of the spring in the engine compartment, and it was a bit better, but it started again. I do not bother any more as the car is driving normally, optics showed nothing and also the spring test which is standard while doing the technical inspection of the car every year went ok. Mine makes this noise while I am turning to the left, while driving around 20km/h through the corner.
