Has anyone here extended the AA cover through Fiat?

If so has anyone had any issues?

We renew ours each year, and its a very good deal, around £60 a year for full cover including European.

When we called to check all was well, Fiat/AA had no record of anything, though thankfully the AA did.

Now following the problem we had abroad last month (see thread about failed drop link), when we called the AA in France they struggled to find our details, but all was sorted. Now we are trying to claim back our extra hotel expense, we are getting nowhere. Call the AA and they give you a number for Fiat, who give you a number for the AA. The whole systems is either a shambles or we are just unlucky.

Has anyone else extended and had issues?

Thanks Rob, no I hadnt thought of that. Hadnt really thought of any so far, the deal with the AA is/was such good value...

It is a classic case of no one taking responsibility. One thinks the other should and you go in circles!

Anyway, the cover ends 30th Sept (after our upcoming trip to Italy, conveniently enough!) and I will certainly be shopping around next time

RAC direct through Tesco club card point myself. Direct and cheaper. I pay £60 tesco vouchers for 4 of us with 4 cars for recovery etc etc.

I have seen the Tesco vouchers thing, however we can get 3 for 1 on other things we need, so that equates to £180 which is steep...(if you dont have other things to spend 3for1 its obviously good value)

For 4 people I suppose it is reasonable. There are only 2 of us and both have cover with bank accounts anyway, its just the European cover required.....

£58 from Kwik Fit insurance for European cover, home start, relay and onward travel. Anybody who pays the RAC or AA full price is a mug. The RAC and AA have to cover the cost of their own fleet of vehicles and staff. Kwik fit, rescue my car et al are just insurance companies so their costs are much cheaper but can offer a similar service by employing local contractors.

I would be careful, local contractors will just recover locally...

Thats about the cost of the AA through Fiat (y)

AA and RAC dont have a fleet in Europe. We had a local contractor pick ours up and he was great. Charged 58euro to supply and fit a Fiat droplink which I thought was reasonable.
Also we didnt have to pay the recovery then claim it back, with some policies you have to do this and it can be quite costly. In this case the AA paid him directly for the recovery

Hello Prov,

I have taken out the Fiat AA cover twice once on my old car and once on my Bravo. 2 years was £130 which is their top level of cover plus some other nonsense I suspect most will not use.

I actually think its not too bad value.

Yes thats the one we have Cardinalbiggles. For £65 a year for full AA, relay, homestart, European etc.., a bargain.

Anyway, finally got the claim form and that has now gone in....
