Hi, Been on this forum for few months now always reading but never done a thread! :)

Right, i have a 150 T-Jet Sport and just happened to turn it on the other day and a tiny (and i mean tiny) bit of black smoke came out of the exhaust while it idealed, I've been watching it and nothing else has happened. However, today decided to change my air filter and when I took the pipe off the air box there was a bit of Oil in the pipe. Now I've never taken it off before the oil was a little bit black but not dirt black...
Should i get this checked?? I've done a bit of googling and some sites say its okay some say its the turbo going. Ive cleaned the pipes and going to check it in a few days time. But ur advice would be great.

The car only has 22K on it and i don't boost when its cold, it is my pride and joy (and my salary) Lol

On a side note i also been trying to get the LED look for my number plate and side lights.. I've bought builds twice now. first time was just standard LED ones. this time i got 501 LED and it keeps telling me they are the wrong bulbs and it needs checked... What am i doing wrong!! :(

Thanks for your help in advance! :)(y)

I have led sidelights which also made my car think the lamps had blown, this is due to the really small amount of current they take compared to filament, when I added my daytime running lights tho it increased the load and the car now thinks the lamps are fine.

As for the oil problem, its probably just coming down the throttle body, its quite common on most cars I think to get a little in there.

Using bulbs that the car wasn't designed to use. ;)

my turbo issue after 3 months

hello, i have a 2008 1,4 tjet sport as well, due to the car being drive by wire the throttle bodies fix are not really a option. How ever i have had my bravo only 3 months now after seeing her for sale second hand at the fiat dealership in my home town here in south africa. i drove it for around about a week and the car lost all its boost, i mean everything as if some one took the turbo off,,, i took it back to fiat and asked them to have a look at it, turns out it was the mass air turbo sensor was blocked, a sensor clean sorted it all out, now i was off in my pocket rocket again blasting around town smacking the pants off of anything that i knew i would beat, there is very few cars that drive as well as this bravo... any way i started having boost issues again about a month later to my dismay fiat was unable to see the cause of my issue, so i decided to have a look my self and nothing was apparent to be a issue... decided to give her a good old fashioned freeway blast in the hope that there might be spec of dirt blocking the sensor or a carbon build up or anything that might cause i issue.... so i took a long 200 km blast to the nearest big city as i live in a small town, after about 50 km the car spluttered and dropped power drasticaly, after pulling over i had assumed that the turbo might of gone but as i stood next to the car listening to the motor idler roughly she started purring like a kitten, smooth like she had never done before... so back onto the road i went and wow wat a difference, she was hawling ass like she was running from bullets i did the next 150 kms at a constand speed of 220km/h on the cruis control... so now im all happy that she running great again haha then murfy jumped in and screwed me over... the previous owner was using the incorect oil to save money and the crappy oil he used caused a awefull carbon build up in the turbo and on the bango coupling that feeds the cooling for the turbos bushes..... all in all i needed a new turbo because of the high speed run all that hard carbon came off and took the turbo with it.... haha i was damn that really sucks..... just cause someone was to cheap ass to put the right oil in the car i had to fork out R13500 .... haha sucks to be me right now!:bang::bang::bang:

Re: my turbo issue after 3 months

you should know that blasting the car in top speed for more than a few minutes can be catastrophic for the turbo compressor (our fiats have a very small turbo and a constricting exhaust manifold to keep lag down and deliver power at low rpms). To be safe, I would change the entire exhaust system by putting something with greater flow. Also, installing a bigger turbo can help!

Re: my turbo issue after 3 months

The vl36 that is fitter the tjet sport is the best one from the ftp series. After alot of money the car is back to show room condition haha, the old turbo was sent to fiat and the guys there said that the failing component was the iron casting having a crack and swealing causing the turbine to stop dead,,, nothing else,,, and as for the fast trip causing damage,,, nope there is only two major factors with a turbo,,, letting the system warm up smoothly and evenly and getting the oil going and secondly after a trip letting it cool down evenly... allowing the oil to circulate and return to normal temp...

RE: LED sidelights.

I tried a few different LED bulbs on my Bravo and none of them worked. A good alternative i've found are Osram Cool Blue Intense sidelight bulbs. Well worth a look.
