Hi everyone

Has anyone else noticed condensation come and go in their tail lights?

I have a 59 plate Bravo. The dealer (SGM Southampton) were pretty sure they were going to be able to get the units replaced under warranty. Dropped the car there for the day and it turns out Fiat UK turned down the light unit replacements. Unbelieveable!! The dealer seem pretty good, it's just ashame Fiat UK seem to turn everything down. I had an Alfa before and had the same problem with Fiat then!

Any advice would be welcomed :)

every car i have had with clear lenses has suffered from this when therer is a water droplet on it and the sun shines on it.

when i have had condensation build up in a light unit, i usually take them out, bring them in the house, dry them out overnight/ with a hairdryer and refit

I read on some forum that a small hole in the bottom of the unit will help.

I have the same problem with mine, after a few arguments i got them changed. Same problem again. I think its just a design flaw

when did your warranty start?

I only got the car last month but didn't notice this as it seems to only appear on warm sunny days. The warranty expires in March 2013, I paid for a 6 month extension as it would originally have been September this year but this seems to have been a complete waste of money :( £120 down the drain as far as I can tell.

Will probably take the advice and dry and dry them out myself.

it's not a matter of weather, I live in morocco and the condensation builds up too sometimes. Just don't pay attention to it, it never stays very long.

I'm baffled by the fiat dealerships that replace the lights, they should know that it's normal.

its not just fiats that i have had this happen to, Mazda and citroen as well.

with older style lights, like these

small amounts of condensation wasnt noticable in them, and the inside of the lenses were not smooth either, usually ridged triangularly. A condensation problem in this style of light was 3 inches of water and a goldfish sloshing around in it.

i wouldnt advise drilling a hole in it as from experience when the bulb covers havent been fitted correctly it makes it really fog up.

No I ment when did the warranty start on the car (from new) or when was the car registered.

You paid for a 6month extension? so it's a after market (not Fiat) warranty then?

I believe it started from registration, so September 09. When I bought it the dealer had built £120 in to the price of the car for extension of Fiat warranty until March 2013. Definetly Fiat and not 3rd party.

Ours was fine until a minor rear end shunt meant they had to be replaced. Now it gets a little after washing on cold days. Just ignore it.

As for Fiat covering it, in the Giulietta handbook they have put a line in the handbook stating that any condensation in the light clusters is entirely normal....I wonder if the latest Bravo edition has this in!?

Hi,
I live in Lebanon and I faced the same problem as you described with both tail light right after a week i received my car from the dealer. Luckily , they changed them both on warranty.:):D
