General Weird high speed whistle

HI Guys

Apologies for pulling up an old thread. I have a 1.9mjet Bravo diesel 07 plate. Just today I had a strange whistling noise, but it wasnt at high speeds as mentioned earlier in this thread, it seems to occur when I'm changing gears/pressing the accelerator...it seems to whistle for a few seconds but disappears when I go slightly faster (unsure if the engine revs at higher speed is drowning out the whistle), its not particularly a windy day (its been pretty windy previously with no probs).
Anybody have any ideas?

I have this same problem. The whistle changes with the direction im heading. Ie the wind on it changes. With me it has nothing to do with gears or turbo since it doesn't alternate the sound. Its just the wind.

Have new wipers, cant find it. Ive noticed that onder the hood on the right side upper corner there is a piece of foam to protect? wind coming in. On the left side i noticed its missing. Dont know it that may cause the problem or it even was there originaly. Seems like it since the right side does have the foam on the exact same spot.

We had the same trouble with ours. Solution is leading edge of the bonnet, some door insulation tape stick the tape about a centimetre from the front edge, noise should be gone.

I once had a citroen bx that did this. It tuned out to be the bonded windscreen was not so bonded after all and it had to go to a windscreen firm who practically lifted teh screen out with their bare hands. All it took was a re bond and the job was done. Insurance paid. If you have climate control there seems to be an issue with flap motors thats well documented on here. Good luck
