I know that this may seem strange to some, but I would like to soften the suspension of the T-Jet Sport. I assume that the shock absorbers and springs differ between the Sport version and other versions, hard to imagine a ride quality this excessively firm and uncomfortable for a "non-Sport" version.

Does anybody know if the shocks and springs fit between the different versions without rebuilding the rest of the suspension? As we all know the T-Jet Sport doesn't ride very low in spite of its stiffness so nothing to lose there.

Okay, you may say, why did this fool choose the sport version if he's into soft rides? Well, there are other nice features to the sport package and, hand on heart, a sport suspension doesn't necessary have to be THIS firm just because it has a sport tag on it. We've seen proof of that from other brands and from other Fiat models as well.

Please share what you think about this senior-ish idea.

Haha, thanks ascott92, your advice is worth considering!

But seriously, is it just me (and a bunch of test drivers around the world) thinking that Fiat hasn't really succeeded in compromising when it comes to riding comfort. After all, it is a small family car with a sporty touch, not a race car.

On a serious note;

The suspension kits available for the Bravo are all listed as 1.4,1.4TJet, so the mounts are the same. I presume it would just be a case of swapping over the springs, as the shock absorbers are also the same. I would imagine then that the only difference is the springs and that yes they are interchangable, and it is the springs that are harder, as opposed to uprated shocks etc.

Non-sport versions are also not comfortable.
No sense to change the springs and dampers with those of standard Bravo.
I read a lot about the subject. May the best choice are the shock absorbers and springs Eibach (Eibach Pro-Kit + Eibach Pro Damper).

So you think that the Eibach Pro-kit actually softens the suspension? Kinda hard to believe. Have you tried this kit?

i have only springs
and yes - they work better (comfortable) than stock
...for absorbers - i have not yet decided to buy them

TJetPete: I would swap any day if I was sure that your Dynamic springs would make my Sport softer, but according to Sev (and others) it's probably not worth it. They say the difference is hardly noticeable. Can anybody confirm this? Has anybody driven both models with the suspension particularly in mind?

I really think that the dealer saying a swap would be impossible is wrong. How could the Eibach springs fit both models if this was the case? Acc to Eibach they do.

Sev, you have the 30mm lowering springs? Sounds almost too good to be true if you can lower the car and at the same time get SOFTER suspension! Has anybody else tried this and can confirm?

No, they cannot possibly be softer. If the car is 30mm lower, there is going to be much less spring travel, or else the car would constantly be clipping it's tyres on the arches. They are compliant springs, yes, and very well engineered, but softer, no. Not unless the stock springs are like concrete.

I met another forum member with a 150T Sport and she said it hurt her back. She asked for a ride in mine and loved how soft it was =P

Off topic but this is perilously close to being a euphemism (y)

On topic, you could go to a dealership Luckor, and test drive an Active/Dynamic. That way you'll be able to see if they are much softer, and if it's worth doing, because there is no reason why it shouldn't be able to be done, provided you get the springs from a 1.4 petrol.

Lol ;)

And if he'd lived near me I'd be happy to take him iTunes

EDIT: Out... How the hell does this phone get iTunes from out?!

Thanks for your offer TJetPete, maybe I'll catch the next plane from Stockholm to take that testride with your ... iTunes ...

So, hurting back vs loving the soft ride, that should be proof enough ... As suggested I've thought about going to a dealer to test a non-Sport version and see for myself. This will be the plan.

If anybody's interested I'll post my conclusions here.
