As the title says Clunky has sprung a leak. I think its just water coming out believe its from the AC. Anyone know what could be up with it? Cars on the jacks in a few hours so will have a good look then but I'm no mechanic. Any help appreciated m'hearties

It looks more like a leak, there is a small puddle underneath the car once it's been on...never noticed it before and it was dripping once every few seconds for a few minutes...100% normal?

Normal... Air-con doesnt use water.... it is... honestly.... condensation. I'd bet you wont have that happen if you drive without the Air-con on for a while.

Do check your coolant level though, especially if you use pure water rather than a 50/50 water coolant mix, just in case you have sprung a coolant leak...

You could try mopping up some of the "leaked" fluid with white loo roll. ( Dont use the pink or blue stuff ) If it looks coloured, you've got a coolant leak. If the colour of the loo roll is unchanged its just condensation from the aircon.

... Or you could geat a local wino to taste it for you.:D Don't try that yourself though!

Cheers for the help guys :) never noticed it before and was unaware it was meant to happen.

It will happen more sometime than others depending upon humidity I believe. Sometime my Stilo won't dip at all and other times there will be loads and I can see a trail where I've reversed into the drive.

Who rubbed you up the wrong way? No mention of the car or it's age, he calls it Clunky... & it might not have been that particular car. I didnt check the OP's picture in detail just offered some free advice, if that pi$$es you off then you should have offered some more valid advice rather than 3 words alone then jumping in at the end with a weird comment.

I don't know why you're being so rude to him since you're the one posting nonsense.

What is "pure water" you're talking about? Evian mineral water?

There's no such thing as "pure water", what you mean is distilled water but it's still irrelevent since the kind of coolant you use in your car has nothing to do with having a leak or not.

You can urinate in your car's coolant tank and it's still gonna leak if there's a leak.

Im pretty sure Ffoxy meant pure water as in 'without coolant/antifreeze'. If it'd got antifreeze in it the water would've been coloured, whereas plain water would've been, plain.

It made total sence & he wasn't being rude - some people need to learn that if they find an original post daft, don't reply to it, rather than making out it's a chore & offering a 3 word reply that appears like it's trying to belittle the original poster.

Its an open forum & knowone's forcing anyone to reply.

Spot on! (y)

It made absolutely ZERO sense.

The advice about moping the floor is useless, if there's a leak the coolant tank level will show it instantly.

As for the "pure water" post, it's completely stupid, no one would put CLEAR water in their Bravo, it's not a lada, that's what Rob said and he's right.

Sorry but your wrong. Depending upon where the leak is, if the coolant in the system is replaced with air in the system and has no way of getting to the header tank the level in the tank will stay the say.

With regards to pure and clear water, I know someone is going to be daft if using only water but it does happen, and I doubt they're going to add red or blue food colouring so it isn't clear

Seriously? this is not an old panda we're talking about...
Coolant thank will always show the level of coolant in your engine thanks to soemthing called gravity. It would fail only if the headgasket's gone and oil mixes with water or worse but then, you'd have more obvious symptoms.

Keep playing with the dislike button if you want, I'm done replying to childish people.

Exactly it's a car with a complex cooling system (y)

Obviously you designed it and ever other system and know it's exact pitfalls and foibles.

It's ok, I'll remember next time to never bother trying to he anyone again. Perhaps everyone might want to follow this idea. Will stop any incorrect info being given, but blow me sideway it'll also stop the correct info :bang:

Tell me, if cooling system looses coolant, it's replaced with air right?? So if the air gets into the system your assuming it'll always make it's way to the tank and the level will drop, I follow you to a point but answer me this. Why do the majority of cooling systems have bleed points??
