just about to purchase some PI suspension for my car. Iv always had PI on all my cars and they seem to perform fine and they come with a 5 year warrenty so thats good enough for me

Just want to know if anyone has attempted it them selves.. iv had a search and no ones written a write up on it or anything that i can find..

anyones experience would be helpful..

not worked on suspension a Bravo but have on other cars

what would you like to ask?

its a case of

jack and support car on stands

unbolt old suspension

bolt on new suspension

etc

you will need spring compressors for the front struts and an air gun will make it a lot easier

as will having it up in the air on a ramp/lift

i presume you are just fitting lower springs not springs and dampers?

yeh iv got all the tools iv done it countless times on alot of different cars.. i wish i was fitting springs and dampners but they dont make them for my car.. so just lowering springs wil do.. its ment to be the sports suspension anyway.

all i want to know mainly is..

the plastic cover on the top that covering the struts a bit im guesing that needs to be undone and lifted out the way slightly? so you can put an allen key in the top (size?) and undo the first top nylon nut to allow the strut to drop out of place?

Tony55S - Shame you didnt take any photos of the strut once it was out so i knew what i would be dealing with? how did you seperate the spring from the strut after securing it with compressors - how many nuts are on top? looks like i can see around 3 inc the nylon one on very top

cheers

Me and a mate did his bravo, the hardest part by far is getting the front struts out

theres 3 nuts on top, it's common sense really

the arb is the next trickiest bit, a bit of jiggling with an allen key and a spanner will get it free eventually though

think i have a pic somewhere of the strut out, will have a look :)

EDIT-not really a help, but the strut and top are sort of in view, so it may be of some help :)

aye common sense usually just helpful to have a heads up :) since i think im gona find it very hard to get that top nut off, the one that hold the disc on which stops the strut effectively fallin out if the wheels are off the floor.

you have to heat it up or anything? or just use allen key and spanner.

ARB usually easy i normally put a jack under the suspension and jack it up til the ARB is dead level then take it out and lower the jack..

we just had to use the allen key and spanner, it was tight but wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be tbh :)

iirc the top nut wasn't bad at all

decent.. well iv put some penertrating oil on mine so hopefully that works its way in by the time i get springs..

should arrive on wednesday at the latest.. hopefully if everythings slack should take me about a hour a side.. lol..

its my bravo mrcinq is going on about :)
its a bit tricky as the scuttle panel under the windscreen restricts movment a little but try and release the second nut while the strut is still on the car without it being jacked up if you dont have an air gun to take them off with as this seemed to do nicley :) once its released a little then pull the strut right out and the rest is pretty simple just those couple of tight nuts on top are the hardest parts

decent thats the type of heats up i was looking for lol.

im just about to attempt to loosen the top two now.. i think im going to struggle...iv not got a windy gun :(

to be honest we didnt need a ratchet for the srtuts as the space on top is very tight as the scuttle panel from the windscreen sits right on them so personally if i was to do it again i would more than likely only use a couple of spanners on the struts as for the arb just a bit of patience is needed and hopefully your hub carrier bolts werent jammed like one of my ones was :D

this is the next bolt iv got down to while still in the car. That space is a nightmare to get into due to that panel above..

you telling me you undone that one while it was in the car still?

Its propper tight lol.. i hate pushing to hard incase i snap the allen key part so what iv done is put the bolt i took off back around the allen key part for a bit more strenth just sceard of it rounding off now..

any ideas how i can loosen it off.. iv sprayed it in penetrating oil for now.. my springs havnt arrived yet so no hurry..

thing i cant remember is if this strut top can turn or if that will damage anything.. since im guessing all thats holding the spring on is that nut and the plastic cap under it

yeah thats the bolt i was going on about :D the panel above is a nightmare but leave all the weight on the strut so dont jack it up and use a spanner to do it i didnt need to use an allen key on the top to release the bolt and you dont need to worry about anything spinning as its just the piston in the strut thats spinning nothing else the penetrating oil should help but its a bit of hit and miss with those bolts
if you cant get the bolt to come off that way then take the whole strut of and take it to a local garage or somewhere with an impact wrench and get them to give it a quick buzz for you :)but after that bolt is off the rest is a piece of cake :)

arr rite.. i didnt think i would need an allen key for that.. since it is what i thought.. This sounds like i wouldnt even need spring compressors at this rate well not for the first part anyway just for putting the new springs on.

i hope i can get it off since a local garage wil not help me.. tried to get them to help me before no one would dare touch it! so i had to take it to machine mart where my mam works and they helped me no bother!
