Hey guys,

This summer... a bit past the 2 birthday of my Stormtrooper... meaning past danish warrenty :( ...my steering ALSO started bubbeling an blistering.... :bang:

I wrote my dealer and a couple of months later they call me up and suggest that I pay 30% and the rest will be covered by FIAT... I know its not a replacement for free... but hey its better than no replacement at all :D

Just wanted to tell you guys that even past warrenty its not impossible.

Cheers

I got mine replaced a few days before my warranty expired. I got the wheel from a 2010 model. It's a little different in colour than the 2008 model (also in leather) and feels better under the fingers (imo)

im still having problems getting mine sorted out.

Have you spoken with Fiat UK fella? They were VERY generous when i phoned and then emailed regarding snapped springs on my Stilo. Got £300 worth of vouchers

They hinted that it was because i'd been loyal to the brand rather than because of the fault itself, but in your case youre also loyal to the brand so i couldn't imagine them making much fuss about the cost of the steering wheel. Im sure it won't cost as much as the £300 theyve offered me.

00800 3428 0000 and option 3 incase youve not already used them.

Liam.

So... new wheel fitted... feels nice but I think its just due to the fact that my old one was 2,5 yrs old :D

At least I was told that it wouldnt blister ;)

Only drawback is that now I have to wait until it goes black again :p its more grey'ish off factory.

Cheers - I am a happy steering wheel bunny!

i have three year warrenty my car is just over 2 years old 22ooo miles and the steering wheel is all blistering and peeling should this be coverd by my warrenty??????

not covered by warranty

i think this is madness, its obvious theres a problem accross the fiat range. I have a 10yr old 306 with 70k on the clock and its leather wheel is like new, my old mans 6 yr old megane is like new but my 2 and a half yr old bravo with 20k on the clock looks like its been in a fire. Fiat a refusing to even look at at mine or tell me whats up with it. They havent even said 'wear and tear', so im pursuing it further.

When you say 'Fiat are refusing' do you mean Fiat UK or the dealer? If it's the dealer, just speak to Fiat UK. Wasting time with a dealer who doesn't want to or can't help is just pointless, speak to someone with authority to make the decisions. I said this in my post several days ago.

fiat uk.

two fiat dealers and an arnold clark fiat agree with me that there is something wrong with them and that its hit and miss if Fiat uk agree to change it.

so far fiat uk havent given me a reason as to what is up with it, or why they wont change it, or why when presented with evidence they have changed others. They havent inspected it themselves, even after offering to let them inspect it (thats me driving from up north to their office down south). infact re-reading their letters, they are actually refusing to acknowledge there is something wrong with it (even with photos in my communications and the despite the dealers inspections), however they seem adamant on offering a goodwill gesture. where i work, if i offered a goodwill gesture when the company isnt at fault/done anything/is in a grey area i'd be shot.

bit stuck as to how take it up going forward

My dealer said they would take it in and and send photos to fiat and fight to get it changed as this is not the first one they will of had to replace.so possibly

In that case i think they're being quite unfair. However, my vouchers (albeit for a different model & different fault) were also offered as a 'goodwill gesture' rather than as an admission of a fault.

If theyre offering you enough to get the wheel replaced i'd just take the vouchers, use them to get it replaced & then continue to badger them over the obvious quality issues with the leather as & when you see fit.

They should really just fix it under warranty & their behaviour is abit curious, but if theyre offering to pay for the work in one way or another i'd just take the money/vouchers and run.
